I am not an art critic, but a lot of the Olympic opening ceremony went pretty far astray. The texting, lost my cellphone, rap thing was pointless and 1000 people with cankles and crooked teeth celebrating national health care? really? The highlight was the queen parachuting in, if only for a little surprise comic relief.
A whole lot of pageantry for not a whole lot of points. It wasn't that it was non-traditional, it was anti-traditional. It had the effect of Dusk to Dawn where you could tell when Quentin Tarantino left off and Robert Rodriguez picked up. |
