Question for the new extra day of reserve... SLC 73N package says on the front page "Reserves estimated 20%" then later above the parameters table it says you'll get an extra * day if reserves "are at least 20%". But in the table under "extra day" it says "No" (73nB).

Then we got that PBS letter last week that went over the reserves thing, and it said the software wasn't ready but for ALL cats to use the 75-79 ALV table for the X days no matter what for now... but that results in less time off?

I could follow the logic when it was all being discussed, but I CANT follow the actual lawyer-style words to figure out what the real reserve time off is for Oct... too many conflicting blurbs between the PBS notepads and the bid package. Anyone got this doped out so I can follow it?
Thx!

Hey...wait a minute...the middle school is exactly 2.8 miles from me!

I looked to see what ad I have when I read this... and it was a Penn State ad.

Talk about dark humor by the ad agency!

ads? someone on here recommended downloading AdBlock Plus, which I did last year, and now I don't get ads on anything. Love that program. Anything that shows up has a little tag on it which I can click on to add it to the "don't download or display" list, but I rarely have to do that--it's amazingly good.

Seattle/Haneda thing... the automation and explanation for what's desired is crappy!
From the DeltaNet page, "The Sept. 6 deadline is fast approaching for employees to register their support for new service between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Haneda Airport in Tokyo. Employees can go online at capwiz.com/delta and send a message directly to the U.S. Department of Transportation in support of the proposed route."

But you click the link, and it DOESN'T "send a message directly to US Dept of Transportation", it takes you to a blank email to send to your reps.
1. specifically who do they REALLY want support voiced to-- it should be DOT, and I just can't see my reps giving a rat's a$$ about a DOT route ruling... not only that, but it's NOT what Delta specifically asked for.
2. WHAT do they want in the email, "I support SEATAC to Haneda service for Delta"?

Come on... if you're asking thousands of folks to voice their support to some governmental agency, you've frikking got to provide the correct contact point and the correct target message. Those guys are just adding up numbers and presenting morning "pro/con on this issue" briefings to decision makers, are you really gonna make the staffers read through some meanderingly different email from every supporter to figure out what they really want?

I gave it a go, but I'm not participating in this kind of amateur schtik from Delta again...

Shame on you for noticing the background so quickly! You had to get prepped on the MMPI, didn't you?:)

I only saw the bottles after trying some rigorous visualization exercises. Almost strained an eyeball. Took a break, thought about getting a drink... and they appeared.

Maybe 2000 fewer Pilots and 1000 fewer FEs???? We still had a butt load of 727s in 2001 and I am pretty sure some L-10s also. But you know what, it does not matter,

Did we lose a ton of jobs to work rules - Yes!
Did we lose a ton of jobs to DCI - Yes!

Trying to minimize one over the other serves no purpose. We were obviously hurt by both and to a large degree by both.

Scoop

The FE part would be a factor however I am working off pilot block hours not aircraft. Block hours determine jobs. While we lost the FE slots we gained a ton of 3 and 4 man slots via the international increase in the 04 to 07 timeframe. That is why even with a smaller fleet in 07 the total pilot block hours remained the same. Its also why we staff a narrow body domestic aircraft at around 12 pilots and a 777 at 28 to 30 pilots. The international aircraft get much higher daily usage and we have 3 or 4 pilots flying. Its one of the reasons we really need to see Europe recover economically. The job loss there has been significant and is the biggest single reason we did not hire pilots last fall and might not hire this fall.
