And we did it.

How aroused would she have to be to do it on the crapper in a NYC stadium restroom?

Fortunately, that's a trait that many of us share, and we're not too shy about telling those who espouse that, um, particular philosophy, to bugger off.

I'm a nice guy, but I did just spend the last 10 minutes with my pomeranian stuffed in a pillowcase. :D The things we do for entertainment while on short call... I guess it wasn't that mean because he wanted to go back in after I pulled it off from him.

Anyhoo, spot on, Nu. :)

ALPA is a good and smart Master.
They gave 80ktsClamp a collar so he could talk.

Mentors are supposed to be "examples" for new pilots, and therefore need to hold themselves to a higher standard wrt to public commentary...

I'm sure clamp is great and does a fantastic job in person, I figure this is his "forum":D to blow off steam in anonymity.

Do they base it off flying ability? I hope not...

So the only way to be a good "example" and have high standards is to never criticize ALPA?

That mindset is a bit disturbing.

It is particularly humorous watching them screw themselves into the ceiling when you do criticize ALPA. :)

I was thinking the exact, same thing.

I just like going into big crew rooms like ATL JFK etc, and changing the TV from Fixed news to Rachel Maddow, talk about clearing some room on the seniority list, man it is comical how some of those guys get wound up and start huffing and spitting trying to find the remote ..... that umm,,, umm was misplaced!!:D

Here is the situation the company was in:

1) they had too many of these that they did not want...

http://simairline.net/delta/crj_1_1.jpg

2) they had jets they wanted but couldn't have because of us...

http://www.flowings.de/photos/medium/flowings_2947.jpg

3) and they had these unwanted jets drop in their lap by a major competitor who never wanted them and were so desperate to get rid of them that they'd pay us to take them...

Ya'll all agree on those fundamentals?

Now you could believe that in order to afford the 717 we had to get rid of CRJ-200s but in order to do that we had to convince Bombardier to take them back and the only way to do that was to take CRJ-900s in exchange. That's fine. I hope you're right.

Or,

Like me, you sadly believe the company decided (smartly) to arouse us with 717s (all pure growth) in order to get us to swallow something we don't like (allowing more jumbo RJs). Toss in the idea of shrinking DCI to raise arousal, but, it seems that was happening without the TA anyways.

It's, um... unfortunately... a lot like this... How Female Arousal Overrides Their Disgust During Sex: Study

And we did it.

So all we have now is the hope that the new jumbo RJs that we ceded to the company come in exchange for mainline airframe growth even though that's no longer required. And sure those of us who said no to the TA could shut up and move on and forget about what happened with scope, but, some of us feel that we need to continue to raise awareness that the precedence and safeguards we set are insufficient if not unfavorable to us and we should not agree to anything like it again.

That's my two cents.

Very well said. Everybody knows I have said this many times before but pilots should never give away work rules (especially those that reduce QOL and/or reduce the need for warm bodies). You never get them back. Very short sighted and our union should be more strategic than they have been these past 10 years.
