Starter engagement switch (an upgrade from the pedal / lever). The MD88 moved it to the overhead panel, but it still does the same thing as a Model A Ford.
He just needed to hold the throttle all the way forward and pull the choke. That cleared it out. It backfired a couple times and then lit right off. |

You don't trust the F/O to lower the flaps on his own do you?
Why would you trust him to start engines! ;^) And I have found that when you flood out the second engine, if you taxi fast enough you can usually windmill start it, just ask anyone at SW. |
