It is all connected. It is nice to cherry pick a contract, and take all the parts you want, but that is not practical. You know this. You want SWA's scope, it will probably cost pay. You want the pay.. the scope might be at risk. We have a good scope clause right now.. the best in the legacy carriers (if you think UCAL is gonna put the genie back in the bottle, it will cost them BIG bucks)

I used to keep a scorecard that contained the best scores I shot on a particular golf course. If I could count THAT scorecard, I would have the course record by some 10 shots. While looking at that card gives me the satisfaction that I COULD shoot that score if I put that kind of round together, the fact is that I didn't shoot all those birdies and eagles on the same round.. What you lust for is no different.

Can anyone recommend a AME in DTW (Ann Arbor area) for a Class I Medical. I just moved to Michigan and need to find a new Flight Surgeon. I prefer avoiding the University Of Michigan Medical Center if possible. Thanks!

*Also, what airline(s) has about 66 jets that could get our fleet total up very quickly? Not hinting, just pointing out that there are many ways to arrive at 796.

It was an interesting filing I looked at after it was mentioned at the LEC 44 Meeting yesterday by the Strategic Planning Chairman.

So give me one example of any contract that guarantees any aircraft will be growth.

Training/Reserve/Pay question: anyone know how you get paid with training plus reserve. I have 3 days training @ 9:45 pay and reserve guarantee for my category is 73 hr....will the total pay be 82:45 with 18 reserve days or will they reduce my reserve day commitments and pay accordingly? Thanks for any help.

You will still get 14 days off so you will only have 14 reserve days and you wont make any over time, I think

Yup, think it's a BS move, although not surprised

No, it will be around 75 hours.

It's complicated but they reduce your reserve guarantee by 1/17 for each day you're not on call, then add in 3:15 for each day you're training or traveling to training. You'll be on call 3 less days.

Nope, it was in a steve dickson memo/letter.

SD never posted a memo stating a specific number of 320's to be replaced. He simply mentioned that 737-900ERs were planned to replace SOME M88s, B757s, & A320s. :)

Looking at the current retirement numbers in the latest monthly based off the rma, I bet we don't hire till 2017. We parked a lot of dc9's, soon airbuses and 757s. The 90's and 717 wont fill as much as we have retired and are about to.

2017? I think it would take a significant downturn event (which is definately possible and argueably borderline likely) by then to push off hiring til 2017. But unless something like that happens, from now until the end of 2016 we have about 650 mandatory retirements (almost 200 will be early per the RMA). I just can't see them holding off hiring past all that and into a year where another 335 or so will punch out, plus all the early (sub 65) outs from future years by then.

1000+ pilots plus a cascading training bubble would make it pretty tough to not hire for. Although we do have a massive dollar/debt bubble brewing behind the scenes, global instability to say the least and a profit lever we can pull anytime we want to by gifting capacity to LCC's and foreign airlines in fantasy growth mode.

So possible, but I still can't see hiring being pushed that far out. I'd think nominal hiring next year is, right now, the most likely outcome.
