I don't know if I have an official stance, that sounds too self important. I have a guess. My guess is that if American continues to melt down then Delta might seize the advantage and start adding capacity for next year, which would start hiring yesterday. If American finds a way to stabilize, then I think they will wait until late summer, early fall of next year so July or August, maybe September. The big kicker is the forward economic data coming from advance bookings. Those are company secrets. If the data is encouraging then maybe they will start hiring in December.

The bottom line is that they have already announced the loss of 82 RJ-50's going forward. That is 3% of domestic capacity. My guess is that soon one or more of our DCI carriers will be awarded new flying for American which will hasten the loss. Delta has not ordered any additional 76 seat aircraft so that capacity will most likely be filled by new mainline flying.

So the status of American looms large in our staffing and hiring decisions for the next few months. You can have a position as official as as mine about how that turns out.

It's a pain, but I'd recommend setting up a swap for each of your current trips in the order of preference that you would prefer to drop. Manually type in the specific rotation you want on the dates it operates. Repeat for all three trips. Then at the bottom check

"Check box if you desire only one swap to be awarded then delete the rest."

As far as I can tell, Delta isn't actually recruiting at this event. Does anyone else find it frustrating that United and US Airways are going to have recruiters there on Friday, literally within walking distance of Delta headquarters? Maybe Delta just doesn't like these FAPA job fairs.

Delta will be attending job fairs in the future. The Manager of Pilot Selection told me that he does not want to attend any job fairs until Delta is actually hiring. Make sure you update your AirlineApps every 30 days. It is noted on your application when you update.

United is not officially hiring pilots so it is just and meet and greet with the Director of Pilot Recruitment and Development and his team.
