Big shoes to fill...but if this weekend is kind of nasty, do they get a pass?

Of the 5000+ cards, I would bet at least 1/4 of those were guys rattling sabers. And they likely no longer support DPA.
IMO, DPA cards signalled a dissatisfaction with the DALPA business (non-disclosure agreements, good ole boy network, keep the rank and file in the dark, play I've got a secret, sales jobs, etc.) and the gross ineffectiveness of ALPA national. In some apparent ways, DPA has changed DALPA for the better (I'm still not a fan of NDA's).

However, I think DPA has become irrelevant as a new collective bargaining agent, but retains some relevance as a voice for the permanently disgruntled. If DPA wants real relevance, they need to mobilize their supporters to sway DALPA internals because they are spinning their wheels as a new wannabe union. In that regard, they are irrelevant.

"YUP them DPA are puuuure nonsense.....wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.....they lost all credibility....aint that right Alpha?" You got that right Sailing...". It's like watching Congress (who vote in their own pay raises) take pot shots at the private sector for being corrupt.

The fact is a whole bunch of guys have sent in DPA cards. Yes some were lookieluers and some let their card expire but there is still a boat load of guys sick to death of business as usual at (D)ALPA. I would say the anti DPAers should focus on cleaning their own house before pointing fingers. It's pretty messed up over there. Leadership can't even follow their own mandates one week to the next. The hostility toward DPA makes me think a bunch of ALPA guys are getting nervous their cushy lifestyle and gravytrain premium pay situation might be in jeopardy.

TC has said a few boneheaded things I will give you that. We all have when pushed. That said, for the record he has many times said HE is not anointing himself king (ala the way ALPA might) and ultimately wont be at the helm of DPA. Leadership at DPA will be elected and the hierarchy infrastructure will eliminate a lot of the BS "thinking and deciding on our behalf" we have to put with under an ALPA/Moak administration. Rant over.
Haha what I find the most amusing is watching the handful of DPA guys parrot each other here....sorry I couldn't resist. One or maybe two guys jokingly told a guy to take off his lanyard and that's an issue? What's next? Jesus lanyards, orange team lanyards? They are automatically ALPAs fault? The dude got a seat in the back. Anyone whose ever dealt with Delta IT knows that it you go back and relinquish your JS that you then go on the plane after all the non-revs because you can't add yourself to the nonrev list after boarding starts unless they were DHeading. If they were DHeading then they were trying to DH on the JS and thats wrong too. Lastly how would TC know how hard Delta pilots worked to get the JS? Something about this sounds like a personal attack against the former ALPA rep from the "north" who wrote an article supporting the TA against his cabals wishes. For you Philly guys (yeah you) that's what happens when you cross the evangelical line that the Detroit Pilots Association drew. Really! We got past red, green, black and blue books and this guy is writing missives about one JS incident in 3+ years of the DPA? We've got reps admitting they walked out of meetings on FPL because they think that the other reps don't like the way they voted and still kept the FPL for not attending the meeting and that's okay? What are the priorities of this group that demands that pilots volunteer for charity quarterly? We've got line pilots that have proven gravity doesn't exist and one or two guys exercising captains authority are the problem? The DPA lied about the MX cover up. They messed up the staffing reports. Less than 200 pilots filled out the last survey. How are they any different than the current guys?

Not to worry, as soon as you get your new Delta Sanctioned Tablet, you'll be able to get into Open Time any time you want, even at Cruise!

And scheds will be able to assign you a trip, any time -they- want!

Now, all you have to do to get a tablet is...

Bid the 717!

(oh, and fly gear monkey for Bill Lumberg! )

Yep, much ado about nothing. Looks like full access is back.
