The decision has been made to keep the DC-9's another year. This was fought tooth and nail by flight operations but marketing wanted them and won the battle. They expected to hire if this happened however they are getting a very high number of pilots returning from leaves so they think they can cover the flying. There is a class of 15 returnees that just started and as many as 150 will be coming back over the next 9 months. Most are military leaves. A big group is finishing their 20 years.

Does this mean the block hour plan is out soon as well. I'm sure we'll be doing at least as good as AK http://i961.photobucket.com/albums/ae93/tekapo/cat.jpg |

4th floor worker, still a chance for hiring this year depending on what marketing decides for the summer but not expected with the number of pilots on leaves returning.

Hmmm. ATL DC9 B... required pilots on 9 days in October is 2 or 3, available is in the 20s. On another 10 days they have 2-3 required and at least 10 to 20 available.
They never have less than double. I think they could adequately staff both the 717 and DC9 with current number of DC9 pilots. http://cdn.thatssotrue.com/2012/5/29...1338311838.gif |
