Youre not missing much. For such a funny username, I would expect better.

Carl was always entertaining to have around with the lively discussion.

Anybody see the Reuters story that said Trainer is supposed to make a $300 million yearly profit with a $16 crack spread?

It went on to say that the current Brent crack is roughly $20, and the Bakken is running about $42!

The gain is roughly $18.75 mil per dollar of crack.

$20 crack would yield $375 mil yearly
$42 crack would yield $787.5 mil yearly

If UAL wants to buy a refinery we should either buy it to capture the "20% domestic and whatever % international", or bid it up high so UAL massively overpays.

So are the 70 jets for Delta pilots to fly or are they going to regionals?

They'll probably fly for the lowest bidder - likely PNCL in BK after the 1113C guts them.

According to Ed Bastian, the refineries that remain on the market have already been bid up significantly compared to where we bought in. The Carlyle group bought a refinery after our purchase and spent much more than we did.

I thought it would be SKYW at first, but I surmise DAL will want to keep the flying as diversified as possible to blunt the effect of "too much dependence" on one wet-lease contractor, and the associated leverage that provides.

The PNCL BK is going to have an interesting effect on the wet-lease contractor industry.

IMHO, the next DALPA scope goal WRT RJ's needs to be no 'next-gen' power plants or turboprops at DCI, that will remove the problem through natural efficiency without the need for charts/ratios/fleet counts.

Like Roy Hobbs said, "Pick me out a winner Bobby."

This was a primary reason for me voting no on the TA... the jumbo RJs coming online are already long term viable.

I hope they do this, though.... but in my talks with "captain" AG ( ;) ), he doesn't think RJs should be at mainline at the payrates we have on them now. No bueno!

While our airline turns out profits as we shrink, just imagine how much MORE $$$ we can make if we keep shrinking!! Err...wait...

The irony being is that he'd probably never have to fly one.
