Looks like flying through the Northeast this week is going to suck. Hope everybody up there stays safe. I wonder what the longest reroute is going to be? We had one guy wind up with a 300+ hour month after the Japan tsunami due to reroute and assignment pay.

For why a C54 Rep was not flying for over a year? If you are a DAL pilot you could look up his info on the C54 web page and call him.

Now that we've all received an e-mail from AA that he wants to be MEC Chair, is it ok with you if I ask why he was allowed to keep bidding for a year when he wasn't qualified?:p

I've always enjoyed reading his articles, but is there any truth to this?

I believe AG should not have run for FO representation since he will be a CA when his term begins. That is not right. I won't differentiate for AA if this is true.

That is absolutely not true. Delta did not have any trouble getting financing before our deal. United has been able to do financing since exiting bankruptcy even with no contracts at all being finished, AMR is still getting financing for their new 737's and 777's even though they are in bankruptcy and their labor situation is chaotic at best.

New aircraft are in high demand and thus make good collateral. If someone doesn't pay, you simply fly the jet over to the next customer. This whole financing thing has been floated around as some rumor for months and months and it is horse hockey. Delta's credit rating has improved since the merger and the last upgrade was before our deal was done. Delta had excellent access to credit with or without this deal.

The timing was about the availability of this fleet of aircraft (717's) and the need to either stick a lot of money into engine maintenance on 50 seaters or get busy replacing them. It was all about the refleeting and had nothing to do with access to capital.

Delta has had good access to capital however if you look at the rates they have been paying they have been high. The last refi a few weeks ago was at a significantly lower rate then we were getting just a year earlier. I have a personal line of credit at a much better rate then Delta can get. We still have a ways to go before they can command the best rates.

Not to mention that "the best rates" can become horrible if the FED doesn't continue to artificially hold rates down. I believe,if memory serves, Bernanke is only holding them down until the beginning of 2013. That's a reason for DAL to lock in its costs quickly. Remember, RA is on the Atlanta federal reserve board. He has publicly stated the word "hyperinflation."

Where did Anderson state that?

From memory, it was an internal memo or an address to an employee group from about 9-15 months ago.

Surprisingly, I tried to google it and there are three people with RA's name in prominent Federal reserve positions.

Sure you can ask but I don't know the answer and would have to do as I suggest above.
