if pilots can figure out how to cheat the system with trip parking, airlines can figure out a way around cabotage.

Here's Sully talking about the "pilot shortage" on CBS This Morning.

How lucky we are to have Sully be the anointed safety expert. He is probably the single most influential spokesman we have today. Instead of grabbing cash and going to play for the other team, he's actually doing something to further a profession he has left. That's called stewardship. Old school professional at its best. Thanks Sully!

I'm not a subscriber, but they ran a story on how Delta is taking a different route then other airlines. Buying used aircraft and being profitable because of it.

Delta made the front page of the WSJ. Really good press regarding innovation and common sense that will yield consistent, long-term profitability. For example, used jets, oil refineries, and a maintenance organization that gets business from outside Delta rather than being outsourced overseas like everyone else. Also trumpets the notion of only one union to deal with, and that one agreed to a new contract for B717's.

Because hydrogenized pig fat with stabilizing chemicals from the petroleum industry cannot be destroyed by anything but a conflagration .... Although the taste is said to diminish afte the published 25 day shelf life, a teacher in Maine kept one for 30 years with no visible effect.

Wonder if a Twinkie could take a Biscoff Cookie? Now that would be a time lapse heavyweight match! Perhaps one of our cabin crew could tell us ... if a Twinkie has every survived, uneaten, for that long.

I dig Sully - he's the man. When wages and working conditions improve, then there will be no pilot shortage. Let the free market work. This sudden 'crisis' is not new; it's a way to pressure Congress to relax the rules.
