Funny, I never see them in Home Depot where dudes usually hang out...just Publix and Walmart!

Sorry, just my pet peeve...

oh you should have pestered him with questions and played the star struck average passenger.

cuz there is nothing more that a dressed up pilot at a publix in the suburbs (hot mom land) wants to do more than talk to a dude about airplanes.

especially one that keeps asking what kinds of row do you fly, how fast is your airplane, how high can you fly, do you ever get scared, what's the scariest airport, do you ever get scared, do you fly the same route all the time, your uncle worked at Delta, is it hard, what happens in turbulence, one time you thought you were going to die and the plane was shaking...

just think Land, you alone could've prevented this from happening again.

Also a great time to ask him when the last time he flew drunk was... you know, that Flight movie said that pilots fly drunk a lot. Don't forget to ask him if he could do what Denzel did. :)

or if he does the same girl Denzel did... is that normal for pilots?

of course save that for when the hottie walks by...

You can APD during those times, but it has a higher possibility of rejection then other times. I did an APD during Labor Day Weekend and it was approved, you just need reserve coverage at 25% or higher.

Yeah, I was thinking about the caveat that it could get rejected if it touches a holiday.

An APD request will be granted if, at the time of processing, the:
25 a. number of reserves available in the category is at least 25% of the number of reserves
26 required (as determined by the reserves required formula under Section 23 W., and as
27 shown in DBMS),
28 Note: For purposes of a rotation that is scheduled to begin in one bid period and
29 end in another, prior to the close of line bidding for the second bid period, a
30 day(s) within such second bid period will be deemed to have sufficient reserve
31 availability, provided that such day(s) does not fall within an APD holiday
32 period as described in Section 23 I. 8. a. Exception.
33 Exception: An APD request may be denied regardless of the number of reserves
34 available during the period commencing two days before and ending one day after the
35 following:
36 1) New Year’s Day
37 2) Super Bowl Sunday
38 3) Good Friday
39 4) Easter
40 5) Memorial Day
41 6) Independence Day
42 7) Labor Day
43 8) Thanksgiving Day
44 9) Christmas Day

Recency question. I have never run into this before but I am heading into the sim to do my 3 bounces. It is C period, but on my schedule it says to show at a later time. Is that normal? Do you just jump in and do three landings and jump out and be on your way?

You normally show later than the recurrent sims. There's a little more than 3 bounces, but it is just 1 hour in the seat. Scenario is something like 1 warmup takeoff to an ils, then a VNAV approach, then a cat 2/3 (for that currency). What you can actually expect is on your fleet page on deltanet.

Let me add to that: show up prepared. It's not just that it's more than 3 bounces, but also that they're specifically looking for profficiency. It's a good opportunity to have a cake-walk OR look and feel foolish if unprepared. Think of it in terms of spending about 1/3 the effort of a CQ profile. Read the script before you step in front of the audience.
