I hear the Fire is one heck of a machine for the price. My wife's BF is head of their Online Marketing Dept and really likes it (go figure.)

I'm guessing he meant BFF. |

Reminds me of the old saying "To our wives and our girlfriends- may they never meet!" |

I don't agree. Double pay for a GS is a "reward" to the pilot for volunteering to fill in when staffing is tight. Double pay for an IA is a "punishment" to the company for forcing a guy to fly on his days off when he didn't have any request in at all (gate agent meets pilot in jetway, etc).
You could have a provision to limit GS while guys are on the street. If you reduced IAs to straight pay at the same time, the company would be singing hosannahs. Now they would have carte blanche to really screw guys with zero financial penalty. Bad idea. (p.s. I've never flown a GS with guys on the street, and average one every four years). How many greenslips one flies is irrelevant to this discussion, so why don't you leave that out of it. I couldn't care less how many you fly. The point is that you are telling some pilots to forego their contractual rights and the benefits that go with them, and allowing another group to benefit from that. THAT is wrong. |

how about greenies and ias pay triple with pilots furloughed?
This really is a blah, blah, blah topic. Furlough sucks. Its a realistic fact of this business. The real lesson is to learn from the life experience of others -always have a backup plan if you are a pilot. Live well within your means and make saving an emergency fund a priority. Don't be anyone's beotch. this.... Right.... Here....^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ |
I'm all for the current IA/GS regime. I'd be 100% for no overtime flying if furloughs are on the street in the contract, though. To me, that is morally the right thing to do.
Just like the no vacation sellbacks, sometimes we have to protect ourselves from ourselves. That being said, I don't think furloughs are going to come into play for a long time... but it's better to get it in there now than later when it "costs" more in negotiations. |
Reserve question
I bid reserve for Nov (haven't been on reserve for a long time) and am already at 80+ RAW score.
I understand this puts me into the second bucket. But what exactly does this mean? Is it safe to assume that the scheduling will leave me along untill all the other dudes (on the same days on) catch up to 80+? Thanks |

Thanks Example Coming off your last X day you and a pilot senior to you are both available for 4 days. There is a 4 day in open time. Your RAW is 84. The pilot senior to you has a RAW of 43. Even though he is senior to you, because he has yet to reach RAW Group 2, he must be assigned the trip first. You should note that this does NOT apply to short call assignments. SC assignments are based off of their own rules. |
