Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any "black & white" or "reading between the lines" of hiring in '13. Very much trying to stay optimistic, but need just a morsel of news about hiring. :)

Good day,

GJ

They are running classes all winter. The problem however is that they will all be mil leave guts returning. Not much need to hire with all the guys coming back.

I heard the Port wanted a lot of $$ for the walkway. If they have a dedicated lane, enough elevators and escalators to the terminal, people to help assist wheelchair and others, and some of those extra wide euro style busses it might not be too bad. That's a lot of ifs.

Maybe I don't understand reserve, but technically are you not released at noon on long call days followed by an X day since they have to give you 12 hours notice?

Or can they call you at 1400 for a 0200 report on your X day?

Technically yes, but I was referring to short call. For all intents and purposes, if you're on long call on you're last day you're done at noon. They can take you into an X day, but it's so far down the RUO list it's almost inconceivable unless you're in a very tightly manned category.

Well, the way I read the Scheduling Alert they can't just bypass a junior pilot who is legal for an SC assignment and give it to a senior guy unless the senior guy has requested SC. Either way, I'm not going to call them. I'd hate for them to say, "Oh yeah, you're right. We'll keep you on SC and put him on SC also to follow the contract."

I'm with FTB. Computerize it.

Is this individual junior to you finishing a trip today? Is there a 24/7 issue?

Interesting. In September they called me to be on short call starting at noon on the last day of the month. I was on a regular line 1 Oct so I sat short call for 12 hours for the two A330 trips out of SEA then went home.

Maybe if I smoked a bunch of weed, espoused socialism, and didn't shower, I'd agree with Rolling Stone mag.
