My great uncle dropped a bomb on the Yamato.

NSFW or kids' ears.

Had a Marxist jumpseater yesterday.

I'm not exagerating. Literally a Marxist. He said he grew up under it in eastern Europe and it was awesome. "Everything was free and there were no taxes." I asked how anything was paid for and why it collapsed and he answered "well I don't know, I'm not an economist."

He wasn't kidding either.

Its a moo point though since the trip is over 2 hours after the start of your SC. It was just a courtesy call. No need to answer, no need to acknowledge. If you ignore it, they will just call you at noon or 12:30 at the latest and give you a 2-2.5 hour report anyway. As long as its not a conflicting "co-terminal" issue (i.e. you were commuting to JFK but the trip starts out of EWR and you can't make report because of that, etc if so, call and get it sorted out) then its good that they gave you a heads up. Make sure the SC still shows on your schedule and if so the only thing that happened is that you have a little tenative heads up if you want it. If not, you'll figure it out at the start of your SC anyway.

But the automated caller keeps calling until you acknowledge it.
I just want to make sure this doesn't happen at say 3 am when I have a SC that starts at 5 am.

I was told that the FAA has interpreted that ONE attempt to notify a pilot during a rest period of a later (legal) assignment is not a violation of rest. Repeated attempts however are a violation of rest. Understand that this is what I was told and it's not a contractual thing just a interpretation by the Feds.

Many stereotypes exist because they're true. In this case he's just about on the money. Rolling Stone is one step below the Communist Manifesto.

I don't think it's fair to assume that everyone who reads Rolling Stone magazine smokes pot and doesn't shower. After seeing the movie "Flight" is it fair for one to stereotype all pilots as coke head, alcoholic, sex fiends?

I thought we were short, overweight, bald guys with big watches many of whom are divorced? When did that change?
