Looks like we were typing at the same time. Why take the time and money to email every Delta pilot for support and not vote for yourself?

Do not know since I have not had a chance to ask him. I suspect he will explain it. Sounds to me like whatever reasoning that he used, ego was not part of it.

Exactly. If he didn't think he was the best man for the job, why run at all?

I doubt he ever had any misconceptions that he could win. The idea was to make all of us aware that the election for MEC Chairman is a closed door affair with ZERO line pilot imput. Not only do we not get to vote for this critical position, we usually don't even know who is running. The whole MEC administration and all the committee positions are chosen in a process that is more fitting for some secret society than a supposedly open and democratic union. Think about it. Our Master Chairman was just ousted and we have no clue why or what the issues were that separated the candidates. The MEC operates entirely in secret. Line pilots are treated like mushrooms. We are purposely excluded from almost every meaningful decision. That's why nobody ever attends an MEC meeting. As soon as they get done discussing the weather and serving the refreshments they close the meeting and go into "executive session". I think Art Aaron should be praised for at least trying to shine a little light into that process. |

Based on the outcome of this election you'd almost have to assume they wanted someone with little to no negotiating experience? I don't believe that Chairman Elect Kingsley has any and O-Malleys name is all over negotiations documents for the last 6-7 years. Their both long-time volunteers but with much different pasts as far as I can tell? |
Can we please stop re-posting those Rhianna pictures? They are getting a bit played out.

I will submit that the election was all in open, many of the committee reports including the budget were in open session. Only things in closed were certain parts of Strategic Planning, Communications, Executive Brief and Negotiating. The hospitality suite is open to all pilots as well. There was no executive session only closed session this time. There was one pilot that showed up and used the allotted five minutes per pilot to speak to the MEC as well. |
