A loss to Vandy is the ultimate indignity for a Volunteer.

Its not that. We SUCK this year. I didn't expect to beat Vandy. They have a good team. I was just getting tired of having to scroll thru those same pictures over and over and over and over and over......

Now if we lose to Kensucky.... THAT is a different animal altogether.

I agree. A tattoo on a hot woman is like painting flames on a Ferrari, IMO.

I thought the same thing ....

My three guesses are more political than objective:
(1) Capt. TOM's inner circle was very tightly drawn, leaving many on the outside.
(2) Even if you liked TOM and supported him, his circle was so tight that you "felt" he did not like you.
(3) There were times where the results trumped the process. We are pilots and it is our nature to do things with sequential checklists. So even if there was a very nice flight, some complained about "checklist discipline."

Regardless, I hope much of the team we have remains in service. They got good work done for their pilots.

I think you pretty much got it. Many of OM's (almost identical to Moaks) circle have worked together for so long that there was an opinion, shared along bipartisan lines and reflected in the vote, that they tended to take each others's counsel more than that of the elected Reps.

I also find it interesting that its characterized as "OM delivered" when he is but one individual in a volunteer organization of hundreds. I'd say the DAL MEC, has, and will continue to deliver, likely more than ever. Captain Roberts will be an excellent facilitator.

I think too much credit and importance is being placed on who the Chairman is and not on the day to day work the MEC does.

Politically, the structure is similar to what cost Romney the election. They form an inside circle "echo chamber" where they only hear their own analysis and anything discordant is identified as a threat.

I saw this at a meeting where a divisive talking point was inelegantly stated and followed by the open question; "why aren't we unified?" I simply tried to re-state the talking point in a way which was more inclusive and was instantly identified as a threat and got yelled at. TOM is, in my opinion, very honest in his responses. Honesty is appreciated, even when it comes at you like an axe-handle. Some don't feel the same way.

In contrast to Moak, who told me he "had never thought about running for National President" off the success of our merger three weeks before he was, President. That's politics.

I think both men have done a good job for us and I am humbly thankful for their service.

It is also hoped this election, in view of the failure of the Republican political apparatus, might provide for some reconsideration on just how exclusive the inner circle is. We can benefit by making our union more inclusive.

I do not know if a reporter was there or not. I do know that the Communications Chairman was quoted in a few of the news articles. The take away is that the press, and financial community is reporting about the on-goings of our MEC. That should not be something we gloss over. To me that point means that they pay attention to how we conduct ourselves and our business. Just my .02

I asked that Q before. JL put this out in his news email and it only caught my eye because the associated press penned the story and not our beloved AJC. I've subscribed to JL for a long time and I don't remember an chairman election ever getting press. Heck Capligners had more press in the last few years as an individual in ATL news. I'm missing the link to the elections being newsworthy.
