Uniform policies are in the FOM. Not in our contract. It's black and white. We are paid to wear it to the standards Delta requires.

I'll never understand the uniform standards heartache. If one complies with the standards, a LCA insuring we are doing so is no big deal. I like it. I'm tired of slobs wearing stained ties, no blazers, no hats, wrinkled shirts, & grubby shoes.

I just don't like these pretty obvious power grabs/status quo-changing acts by management going unchecked by DALPA (and the widget-aid guzzlers).

Do you think the company would stand by idly if we attempted to "fly the contract and only the contract?" Hell no, they'd scream bloody murder and look for a court order to preserve the status quo.

I'd like to see "my" union at least give lip service to fighting the company's latest attempts to run roughshod over the status quo. Preferably before these newly crafted harassment-like policies become the new status quo.

That's all I do, & no one complains to me.

Uniform inspections and a requirement to make gatehouse PAs every 15 minutes are a change in the status quo.

Agree?

Too many people getting their panties in a wad here lately. Regards, Mike Hunt

What status quo? Has anyone actually had a formal inspection? It's truely a genuine question. I don't know of anyone. Is the company actually conducting formal inspections?

My question is if the gate agents will know this policy change and complain to their bosses every time a pilot isn't around to take the blame for the delays. If they find out they can pass the buck like that I am sure it will be brought up all the time.

"Hey! Why weren't you around 45 mins ago when we first learned of the delay to appease all these irate passengers! Aren't you required to do that now? I'm writing you up!"

I strongly disagree with this new policy.

Being professional is nothing new...at least for most of us.

Didn't mean for this to become a uniform wear issue... but word has it you'll be sent home if you're not wearing it properly next year. Recently heard about a guy called in for no name tag on his shirt. Times are a changing folks, and if we aren't proactive, it's going to get a lot more challenging just doing our jobs. Get involved and speak up to your reps, they are the ones who need to take the initiative on our behalf.

Well...since we aren't going to hire until we are hurting for people, I'm sure they won't be sending anyone home...the new guys will be safe:D
