Deltalina is much hotter in person.
I have to agree with LNL; in the safety briefing video she does have a horse face (I still think it looks good). TEN |

The memo uses "will" for the initial and "should" for the additional ones every 15 minutes.
Take that, horse! Denny |

Chapter and verse on required to stand there, please.
(For the record, I do stand and say goodbye unless we're running late and have a plane change) While passengers are deplaning, a pilot should stand at the deplaning door to thank our customers whenever possible. • Pilots should not deplane until all passengers have departed the aircraft, unless early deplaning is necessary for operational reasons or passenger assistance. • Pilots will use good judgment not to interfere with any passenger or with the normal deplaning flow. To me, there is a direct connection between the operation and the PWA. If I screw up in the operation, it is the PWA that gives the union the contractual right to represent me in any disciplinary matter. Is that correct? |

This horse needs some more beating.
The memo was poorly staffed and worded. It wasn't the first time and it won't be the last. For the record, I think the word choice of line check "blitz" is a poor choice of words, but I don't think it rises to the level of "panties in a wad" bad. I thought the word choice of doing the walkaround "in the shadow of the aircraft" was a poor choice of words too. I remember when DAL memos used to be full of misspellings. Etc, etc, etc. Hold that horses head, I'm gonna kick it in the nu... Underboob, I'm beggin ya. Scambo, I think you and I need to work up a Laural and Hardy, "Who's on First" type routine for the Gate Announcement. Me: "You wanna tell em?" You: "I'm not tellin' em, YOU tell them!" Me: "Tell who?" You: "What?" Me: "The Delay thing!" You: "What, are we on a delay?" Me: "That's what you said!" You: "Who said?" Me "YOU Said!" You: "What?" |

Ha, just found it and came back here and saw your post, newK.
Not anywhere near the strong wording that is in the gatehouse PA memo. http://ericlightborn.files.wordpress...dead_horse.jpg |

Me: "You wanna tell em?" You: "I'm not tellin' em, YOU tell them!" Me: "Tell who?" You: "What?" Me: "The Delay thing!" You: "What, are we on a delay?" Me: "That's what you said!" You: "Who said?" Me "YOU Said!" You: "What?" The memo was stupid and in many ways is unworkable for several reasons that were pointed out. However, if you are already on the airplane and boarding has not started and you are flying an ULH flight, you can use the following: Ladies and gentlemen, this flight is delayed for a theatre flying requirement and will likely be cancelled because we are not extending our day voluntarily and all the shortcall pilots are out of position. I won't be able to give you any follow up information, I have to get to my jumpseat home in 20 minutes. I don't take the memo as a personal insult to my humanity and far too much is being made of it. There is no reason a pilot would not responsibly perform a customer service function, if able. All the angst is about when the pilots are not able/present. |
