George,
Do you anticipate a problem with compliance with the AF/KLM JV?

Based on the current winter 2012-13 pulldown, and the published summer 2013 schedule, it is nearly impossible to meet the PWA required average for the current three-year compliance period ending March 2014. If that occurs the company will have until March 2015 to remedy, most likely the company will make use of 1.P.4 Note 2 (12 months of 49.75% to disregard all previous percentages.)

For perspective the split between DAL and AFKLM flying has been on a 3-year divergent trend in favor of the Europeans. In fact this winter schedule has us dipping below the 45% EASK line, a new three-year low...

Most likely...

The way I see this; it could begin as a codeshare, then become a JV. I do not think anti trust immunity would be a problem. The regulators would like to see an operator to counter BA's dominance.

I'm not sure the Virgin Atlantic transaction will become part of the JV. There are lots of cross Alliance, cross JV agreement being forged right now. I'd venture to guess this won't be much different. (see the Etihad, Air Berlin, AirFranceKLM three-way, or the Etihad, Singapore, Virgin Australia, Air New Zealand four-way)

The production balances our MEC has brought forward are a very good concept to deal with a highly complex labor situation. Nothing is jumping out to me as a way to improve substantially on what we have, other than to tighten the language, measurement periods, remedies and growth provisions. What do you think?

You hit on one of the key aspects: a three year compliance period with a one year cure is too long. Any compliance period needs to be 1 year or less.
I'd say the NC was aware of this and did it right for the Virgin Australia LOA.

This rumored VAtlantic deal would most likely benefit Singapore and by extension VAustralia.
If VAustralia brigs their flying up to 3 daily US RTs +1 more weekly flight, we get to double our Austalaisa flying and share any growth beyond that 50-50.

Cheers
George

Yes you are. You just did.

As a former NWA I wish there was a big 'ole middle-finger smiley to post.

Note to mods: before deleting my post I hope you recall tsquare's use of the same statement that resulted in no removal.

Ummmmm yes it did get removed and I got a stern lecture. That being said, I agree.

I prefer the good Kirk to the one that came back all messed up in the transporter.

Too many trips for Purple....

Charlie Strong is not a popular choice in Knoxville... so I am sure he will be the guy. That is Mr. Murphy's take anyway.

His recruiting capabilities might be good, but he has not had to recruit in the black hole of Tennessee before... in the SEC. THAT is a distinct difference in what he has done in Florida versus what he is doing now at UL. Not to mention that his resume ain't all that sparkling at this point.

I don't know what's up with the state of Tennessee when it comes to recruits, but you only need to drive a little bit south and recruit out of Georgia anyways. They're always looking to leave the state. ;) I guess Gruden is out for sure.

Anyways, Arkansas has a coach. And they have Hog Girl. And they have Hog Girl singing about the new Arkansas coach... watch it...

What do you expect? It's one of those fan bases, the other is nearby our ATL base, that makes animal noises when a teenager kicks a ball to another teenager.

It's hard to take those kind of fan bases seriously. :D

No, I'll use it now. I have no delusions that I'll ever see the left seat again. I USED to be somebody, though. Not quite Jake Pavelka but somebody. To paraphrase Eyore, it's a life.

If this is not posted in every lounge immediately, I will be amazed. It should. It's hysterical. I think "are you in New York" should be the first branch of the tree though.;)
