Hmmm... was this released in the summer? Looks like Delta is moving out of Concourse B in CVG. Everyone is consolidating to Concourse A.

CVG's big plan: $450M in upgrades

EDIT: Actually yes, it was already announced. CVG is consolidating concourses A and B into a new Concourse A. Both old A and B will be demolished.

I'm only one person. I have a 4 yr old daughter and a 1 yr old son. I'm pretty darn busy, & I scan APC when I can. But this thread is ONE of many that I'm responsible for moderating. If something offends ANYONE, then will that ANYONE Quite frankly, being a moderator sucks. I don't get any form of compensation. Unless you consider constantly being criticized as a form of compensation.
We all, well most of us, :) appreciate your dedication & time spent moderating this forum Johnso. Thank you.

Cherish the youngsters, especially around this holiday season, they grow up way too fast. (From someone who has an 18yr old, 16yr old, 13yr, & 9 going on 19yr old.) :D

P.S. Criticisms start again tomorrow. Even a "jerk" can have a nice day every once in a while. :D

I don't know anything about that, but there is no way I am going to OR 8.

Ok I've read through the last several pages and I don't know if its me or the Jack. But, I can tell ya that anyone who thinks we are flying beyond LHR with this agreement isn't looking at AMS very close. It will be the same deal, we'll fly to LHR and put people onto VA. Period. Any growth will be TO LHR. Some day the secondary European markets will come back for point to point from JFK or ATL, but that won't be till the economy improves.

Yikes, does that put me in the sailing camp? Never thought I would say that:eek::D

I agree, & that's where I think we stand to gain flying. ORD-LHR, LAX-LHR, MIA-LHR, BOS-LHR, etc.

So there is lot of pieces that move in and out of the economics of that transaction, but with that said, once we get to 65 we will have a significant number of retirements and we don't anticipate being in a situation where we have pilot hiring in 2013 as we sit today, but obviously as people hit the 65 age limitation, we will be hiring at the bottom of the seniority list. We haven't done an analysis of what the trade off is there, but overall the pilot contract and when you take the totality of all the terms, the productivity, the scope clause and the flexibility that gives us to be able to manage the business to the peak, its all in a good yield in terms of the overall profitability of the airline."

I guess it was announced.

the word productivity is bothersome.

I don't follow FA news much but my understanding is 1000 FAs took the early out... and so we're hiring 400 to replace them.

Is that right?

There was only one, small, terminal when Delta began their "Itanicnic" hub expansion, no surprise there will only be one terminal when they leave. It was only there to connect trans-con traffic and because we couldn't compete in ORD with UAL and AA there.

There's not a whole lot of O/D traffic in CVG, it's not exactly Chicago, in terms of banking, business travel or population...oh, and there's no lake, so nobody's going there for summer vacation. In fact, it's not even in Ohio, it's Northern Kentucky.

When I was based there in 1992, the Town Fathers of Northern KY were looking to generate some tax revenue. Delta had just opened their new Hub there, with international flights. They decied they would levy a big fuel tax on the Big D. Ron Allen flew up from ATL and addressed them, re. increased fuel taxes, or any other add on taxes.

In Ron's finest hour, he said to the group, "If you increase the taxes on Delta, we will pull our entire operation out of here and put it in Indianapolis!"

I watched it on the evening news as I sat MD88 reserve in my crashpad in Florence. I was laughing my arse off, but he was right. I was no fan of Ron, but I loved him on that day!

Why would we connect someone through LHR when we have better service and more choices at AMS and CDG? I think this deal is almost exclusively about back and forth US-LHR. Either way, you are probably correct about the beyond flying and the point-to-point to smaller cities.
