As long as tbe pilot submits a letter of intent to return before the expiration of the recall rights, they can come back as long as they take the class offered when Delta calls.

Is he sure about that? Seriously, his recall rights might expire before we ever hire again. He might not get the chance.

I think the point was, that the ULTIMATE expiration of any recalls happens sometime in 2014.
If there are no hiring classes between now and then, the people on the sidelines will have missed the boat. I came back 2 years ago, at the point I thought the "return" gamble was approaching it's limit. Delta has to be hiring for recalls to happen. There is also a small group of North double furloughs they went out in '05 or '06ish briefly. They will get at least 10 years from their most recent DOF. Not sure if the 4 additional year last chance opportunity will also be available for them or not but that seems irrelevant as I doubt we wouldn't be hiring in 2016 although you never know. |
"....In-Flight announced it anticipates hiring up to 400 new flight attendants in 2013......Interviews are planned to begin in January with initial training starting in April and new-hire flight attendants ready to fly in June........And, in case you’re asked about pilot hiring, Flight Ops does not have dedicated hiring funds in our 2013 budget; however, we continue to closely monitor our staffing requirements.......Richard and Ed briefed Wall Street analysts..........Richard estimated we will earn about $1.6 billion in 2012, 30% better than last year, and predicted that 2013 looks even better........'

Why didn't he have to resign his Delta seniority number when he went to FedEx? Did FedEx not require that?

Maybe they are trying to say FltOps is pushing for hiring because of current and soon to be anticipated need they want to get out in front of and that is being rejected by some bean counters somewhere. If so, kudos on the passive/agressive approach but it needs to be buffed a bit because its way too subtle. |
Col. Knighton continues her attack on Delta.
Delta’s “admission of wrongdoing is a great first step,” said retired Army Col. Nickey Knighton, who was seated in the last row with Brown on the flight, and later complained of his humiliating treatment by an intransigent crew in a letter obtained by She The People. Knighton suggested Delta now “look at other things, especially company leadership, because if you can’t get a complaint to the right people in a timely fashion there is something wrong.” A helicopter pilot whose long career included stints in the first Gulf War, Bosnia and Somalia, Knighton said Delta must also examine “leadership on board that aircraft because putting Brown all the way in the back” violated emergency evacuation procedures. “Not one member of the crew said, ‘stop, this is wrong’.” If Delta is really serious about making it right, the airline might want to heed Cleland’s advice and give Brown seat 1B next week when he hopes to go home to suburban Memphis for the holidays. Delta is always exceedingly polite in these situations. One can only imagine how Crandall, or Kelleher would respond ... |
Completely different subject....I am hearing rumors of some 2010 poolies. Do we have a traditional pool of folks waiting for training dates?

Whatever happened to "the problem with the Yanks is they're overpaid, oversexed and over here"?
It's like completely flipped. :D |
