Thank god all of our umpteen codeshare/joint venture partners will be able to pick up the slack.

Can airliners really fly upside down? - CNN.com

"Flight" director Robert Zemeckis, creator of the "Back to the Future" series, enjoyed a bit of artistic license here, said Larry Goodrich, the film's pilot consultant.
Goodrich, a 32-year pilot -- first with the Air Force, then with Delta Air Lines -- trained pilots to fly MD-88s, which the movie's plane most resembles.

Well, Airliners can't fly upside-down, but since when is the Mad Dog an "Airliner" bwahaha! Mad Dog's gonna do what ever it takes, to get to Happy Hour on time!

I can see addressing individual complaints but taking a week someone actually wants away from a guy who has already acknowledged it and begun planning, say, a spring break trip because the company messed up is total BS. However, it sounds like ALPA is going to go along with allowing a rerun of the vacation awards.

Give me a break! The awards were all screwed up. The only way to fix it is to rerun them. They have only been out a day. They don't have to be out for like another week. I am sure if someone can show that since yesterday they paid for a expensive vacation the issue will be addressed on a case by case basis. If they left the awards as posted the vast majority of pilots would have no way of knowing if they recieved a correct award or not since changing just one week can cascade through a entire award. ALPA going along, what a crock, they are trying to fix it.
One poster put on here they he was screwed and ALPA would not do anything to fix it. They fix the awards and someone elses posts that ALPA is going along with a rerun and thats wrong. Reruning the bids is the only way to insure each pilot got what he should have held.

How do we slide vacation? I remember reading about it, but I can't remember where. I have been trying to find something on it on the company and ALPA websites to no avail.

Absolutely correct sailing. The awards were obviously screwed up and pulled. The same thing has occasionally happened with the preliminary monthly bids. If we whine loud enough, the company will just wait until the last possible contractually allowed limit to post any awards.

BTW, I got my first choice of vacation bids (Two weeks over my anniversary.) During a rerun I may lose it and although I won't be happy, I won't accuse DAL or ALPA of screwing me.

Read the PBS gouge. You slide vacation when doing your PBS bids.

Fair enough. They can rerun it and give any affected pilot a choice between the first award and the second and then deal with the staffing consequences their mistake caused. The difference is that on the PBS runs, there is a disclaimer that awards aren't final until posted in DBMS. Not so in this case. I'll whine as loud as I want. I care far less about how fast the awards come out than I do about the accuracy of the results. Even the prehistoric IT that Delta clings to is no excuse for that kind of sloppiness.

Looks like the re-run is done. My vacation is one week earlier (and better) than it was yesterday.

Sailing;

I'm glad you are still on this forum. I was not wanting to lose your perspective.
