I think that those 318's would be quite nice for the LGA service.

I know this is left field, but maybe RJET was just buying F9 so that DAL could get a few things or all of it from them. Just a thought.

First of all, I would like to clarify that I do not understand the politics of the airline industry. Now that RAH owns both Frontier and Midwest, they are in direct completion with Delta (I’m sure this would be a violation of some contract). RAH made huge profits by providing lift for Delta and used the cash to acquire two airlines to compete directly with Delta. IMHO, Delta needs to drop RAH as a lift provider and shift flying to mainline.
Is shuttle America still flying some of the Shuttle flights for Delta?

Really? I can't get over the irony of the "career expectations" argument driving a pilot group into the hands of Teamsters. Can any F9 pilot think they are better off tied to Republic than Southwest? After all, most rational thinkers would rather be Southwest First Officers than senior Chautauqua Captains.

Frontier's a good airline, and profitable. Holly Hegemon wrote a good article about how perceptions drove a higher credit card hold back, which forced the Company into bankruptcy. It's a shame some of the morons on Wall St. have the power they do.

Delta wanted to sell Comair and perhaps other wholly owned airlines to raise cash. Since restrictions on competition would have reduced the number of potential buyers, Delta and ALPA removed those restrictions which once had forced a cancellation of the ACA deal under similar circumstances.

Despite all the talk about not liking the fee for departure arrangements and all the outsourcing, cash is king. Delta sees this flying as not part of its core product and will sell it off to raise liquidity if a cash buyer comes along.

ASA was a tremendous deal for SkyWest. Republic would like to make a similar deal.

This may have been said before, but it looks like LCC is getting a NRT slot that was used by the cargo division. Therefore, there is no reduction in the passenger side.

Last time I read the bilateral, there were specific carriers agreed to by both governments that were allowd to have air service between Japan and the USA. There are 4 lists of approved carriers and I will paraphrase the titles:

Pax- primary - 2 carriers from US and 2 from Japan (NW/UA and JAL/ANA)
Pax - Secondary more carriers NOT including LCC.

Cargo Primary - NW/FDX and JAL/ANA(I think)
Cargo Secondary - more carriers from each country NOT including LCC.

IIRC the difference between Primary and Secondary authority is allowing fifth freedom rights for primary carriers.

The US and Japanese governments would both have to agree to

1) Add LCC to one of the lists and
2) Grant LCC a slot time in NRT

I'm not sure if 1 or 2 is more difficult to accomplish, but neither will happen without approval of both governments and possibly a request for additional bilateral talks (usually bad for primary carriers).
