Agree with Scoop. I tried hard to make a little extra on reserve for the first few months, but I never even got close to breaking guarantee, so I pretty much gave up. Now I just try to avoid flying, unless I have to go to ATL for short call. In that case, I'll throw in a yellow slip just to avoid paying for hotels, but that doesn't even work these days. I've been sitting in this crappy hotel room for three days and can't touch a trip because of all the white slips, even for weekend trips.

Obviously things are different in other categories, and they will be different for me in the summer (especially if I get displaced), but we are a long way from having a system-wide problem with ALV + 15. Will I eat crow in a couple of years? Maybe, but I doubt it.
Quote: When we left chapter 11 it was 8 24 hour short calls a month for everyone. We will now have 6 or 7 shortcalls a month depending on the ALV lasting 12 hours. Post chapter eleven 192 hours a month possible on short call. On 1 jan next year 72 to 84 hours a month depending on ALV.
Wait a minute, Sailing.

Last year this time, we had 6 shortcalls a month. Now, in the future, we will be up to 7 in some months. The only reason international categories will be going down to 14 hour shortcalls is because of federal law. With this new contract, we went backwards in the SC area, plain and simple.

You claim to be a person who looks at things objectively, but many if not most times, that's not the case.
Quote: Call DALPA office, ask for either Scheduling or Contract Admin. That's what they are there for, and lucky for you, it's not a weekend or holiday so someone will be there today and tomorrow, M-F, 9-5. They have gotten me out of some sketchy re-routes and assignements.

Every Delta pilot should have this number in their phone, I have even called them from the cockpit to get an answer: 1-800-USA-ALPA
There is a Scheduling expert available M-F from 8AM to 8PM eastern time (allows West Coast pilots have someone available from 9-5)

You can leave a voice mail for them overnight and they will respond first thing in the morning. Highly recommend the service they provide, some of the best dues dollars we spend.

There's a reason he's never been on FPL... his ability for data interpretation and recollection is nearly always wrong. There are usually bits of truth in there leading to an invalid conclusion.

Items are given up in every contract even the very best. Trades are made. There were lots of changes in reserve. No one posts about the good things. Over the course of my career reserve is the single most improved part of the contract by a big margin. We have progressed from 19 to 20 days on call 24 hours a day with 2 hours to report to the system we have today. It has ebbed back and forth over the years by the overall trend has been hugely positive.

And if we believed half the forum posts over the last 5 years delta should be out of business or at the least have thousands of pilots on the street. I think my version of the future has been far mor accurate then yours.
Jim Cramer says buy DAL. If I was still holding any, I'd say that's a sure signal that its time to sell.

And what has my specific version of the future been?

There is no version of yours as it is nearly all misinterpreted data...

With the overall debt load the company has and the huge capital requirements replacing a very old fleet are going to require I would not buy Delta stock. I certainly would not have it in my retirement plan. The stock may see 18 a share but there are better investments out there. It could easily also be back at 8 dollars a share.

Yet the data I post is normally backed up and interpreted by experts much the same way I look at it.
