GMAB. In a large council during a good turnout you may see 20-25% turnout for the vote. That is when one can do it in their shorts at their computer. I highly doubt that more than 1/5 of the electorate would vote in a ballot point election if that was the option. With pilots having to show up I am sure that the same percentage bidding off would not cause issue with the operation.

If ALPA in general actually wanted pilots to vote or provide input in any fashion there are many ways in 2013 to make it easy. Note, they have not made it easy. Draw your own conclusions.

I've often wondered why they don't just hold every MEC meeting at the Training Hotel in ATL, from say, 5-9pm, free refreshments to follow.

The line pilot turnout would be huge! Think of the Line Pilot Input they could gather! And we could talk to our reps, face to face!

Which I'm guessing is the very reason they never hold the MEC meetings at the training hotel, but in places like Ft. Lauderdale, at the beach, Las Vegas, and San Diego...

Did anyone notice in the Q&A sesion of Ed's presentation today he stated there would be opportunities in the marketplace to selectively add widebodies to our fleet?

True. An internet voting setup probably costs less than what "we're" paying for a few days' FPL for the ALPA posters here.

Anyone on the 777 know if people intend on bidding the whale once the fence drops? Or have heard people talk about it? Someone I know wants to bid it onthe next AE but doesn't want to be bumped off it once the fence drops and have to go to training again. Thanks

I haven't flown with anyone on the 777 that wants to bid off to the whale. They pay the same and the 777 trips are generally more efficient. I like the way the whale looks, but could care less about type ratings.

Occasionally, there will be guys that say "man I'd look good in that." But noone says it seriously.

What has better trips, 744 or 777? :D

I know you're kidding, but really, you have to define 'better'.

One man's trash is another man's treasure.

We have a lot of variety to choose from, from the DC9 all the way to the Whale, and as I was told a long time ago, when I started dating, Varity is the Spice of Life. So, pick what you like, when you can hold it.

But be aware, as soon as you bid the A330 for those sweet Hawaii layovers, they'll put the 767-400 back on it and you'll be flying to Lagos!

Well Timbo, let's look at this objectively.

What happens on a typical 744 overnight? Let's ask Carl...

As you can see, either beats a 88 overnight.

Unfortunately, the 777 overnight comes up a little red x. It's not that exciting, but it probably beats dayton in the winter.
