That took A LOT of the mess out of this that there could have been. Like I said, first time in 5 years that I've actually had positive movement in an ATL category (very small, but it's something- that's what she said). |

I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by this bid. I expected the new lower paying F/O positions in ATL to drag everyone backwards. I thought I might get displaced to it against my will. I was way wrong.

That is your choice as capt. Luckily I have not had any problem as most commuters understand and are accommodating. As a 17 year commuter with 23 to go I will do whatever it takes to get everyone I can on. In the past I have sat many times on the door 3 757 FA jump ANC-MSP at the end of a 12 day trip after working HKG-KIX-ANC or TPE-NRT-ANC. I'm on the 88 so the legs are not too long, and truthfully the FA jumpseat is better. At least you can stand. I also will sit in a cockpit jumpseat (as long as there are no other online, offline pilots trying for it) on a DH or PS to training if it helps get another non rev junior to me on.

I too make a great effort to get on jump seaters... but there is no way I would pre-decide/pressure a Delta pilot to sit on that piece of plywood called a FA jump seat (and I would hope that the majority of Delta Captains are not doing so). At 55yo, I've done it to get on the jumpseater, for 2hrs or so, but that's my personal limit.
