This one:

Emirates Flying Milan-New York From October 1 » Gulf Business

Your next stop should be:

Alpa > ALPA PAC

I give 42 bucks a month or about half a tank of gas a month.

If we have Open Skies with the EU I thought that only applies to their carriers.

If Emirates has 5th Freedom then do we have 5th Freedom rights in Europe?

I agree this is huge news. Hugely bad.

I second this question. Doesn't the US government have to approve route authorization as well?
Are these routes being purchased from Alitalia? And even so, wouldn't it still need to be approved?

It's been done before with JFK-HAM.

That route tanked and was canceled a little while after it started.

Italy apparently likes Emirates more than it's own airline.

Didn't someone we know just buy 49% of a Britt airline?

Did Emirates put up a fuss?

Follow the money.

If Emirates buys enough Politicians through "re eleciton campaign contributions" they won't have any trouble getting this approved, if it has to be approved at all.

You know we have the Best Politicians Money Can Buy!

Look at the millions of dollars and dozens of Gucci loafers that Middle East carriers are spending to lobby our government to allow these carriers to take over our flying. "Low fares", "hot flight attendants", etc. etc. etc.

What those carriers want right now is for the US pilots to fracture into little groups of independent unions, each trying to protect their own little piece of turf, so that there is no consistent, powerful, single voice to represent US pilots and their jobs in front of Congress. I would not be surprised to see them trying in the future to subsidize the DPA, UPU, and these other splinter groups to try to help destroy the voice of ALPA.

I know that there is a lot of frustration over a really crappy decade of this profession, but if that frustration forces us to splinter apart and become subject to attack on multiple fronts from these carriers then we will have truly not learned a thing from this consolidation. Just at the time that we are advancing our careers back, not fast enough but as fast as we can, it would be insane for us to break apart and let these people come and buy their way into stealing our jobs forever. Once they are gone they are gone forever.

The DPA is now just an organization dedicated to spewing bile about ALPA. They have no agenda. Their lawyer Lee Seham, helps finance and support this bile spewing as it has made him millions of dollars from labor groups and he has delivered almost nothing in return. Look at USAPA, all their dues money went to him and they haven't had a pay raise in 7 years. Their seniority fight is almost over and they are losing so it was all for nothing. I think it is clear that the Delta pilots are not going to be the next set of chumps to fall for this ruse.

Is there some point where the DPA folks will rise up from their bitterness and look around at what the real threats are in this industry? How are we going to counter these well organized, well financed threats if we continue to fracture? United we stand, divided we fall.

EK currently has 120 77s, 40 a380s. They want to grow the A380 fleet to over 150 by the end of 2020. They do all this with huge govnt support. Their's and our's.
As a result those guys are not worried about what we do.
Delta is still in the proces of getting synergized. We are profitable, great. RA doesn't care about growing,as long as he has JV's and code sharing.
Now Tim you are "stuck" at the top of the seniority list. I am a 14 year fo stuck in Atl. Can't hold 330/777FO,let alone 717A.
I am glad to be working for a profitable airline, but seeing Emirates growing is very frustrating. Directly affects all of us. And that's including AF/KLM pilots.
That's why I'm glad guys like ACL are working for us now,so we can maybe slow these gulf carriers growth down and level the playing field.
Thx

Comments like these are not constructive.
I think we should stay, stick together and improve the place.
A good start would be to demand from our union to stop advertising crappy TA's as the best deals in the industry.
