I vote that you can have a rant, but then you HAVE to post a pic. No pic, no rant. JMO.

And what about October SILS? I couldn't find a picture to go with taking a month off work to sit on a thumb tack at home and get on your wife's nerves. Or depending on you, wives nerves. You know who you are. |

Man I am struggling to find this in the FOM or PWA, but somewhere it must be written that as a Delta pilot (DALS) you must be a complete ******* to ATC whenever you get the chance.
If anyone can find it let me know, I think its in chapter 3 or 5 and is probably sandwiched between where it says: a) in lieu of standard IFR procedures and the required first come first serve basis of ATC that ATC will give priority handling to any jet (but especially the one you're on) that has Delta written on the side of it, except that if Connection is also written then they go to the end of the line, and b) ATC controllers are idiot subordinates that must never look at you, must stand at attention at all times behind you, must make no suggestions to you, must do everything you tell them to do asap, must never deny your requ... demand, must answer when called and that when you talk to them you shall use your outside screaming voices no matter how petty the situation is. After the past few months I've just got to believe its written in the FOM somewhere because it just happens sooo much. And what gets me about it is that the guys are by and large great people to be around!!?! I mean I hate it because we, Delta, come off looking really bad. FWIW, you give up a lot when you file IFR and a lot more when you do it for compensation or hire. Sorry for the rant and the lack of a pictuire of UF swimsuit girl. I fear getting caught here at home posting that and not having any good rational explanation as to what I am doing. FTB, Your evidence is anecdotal. There are A-holes in all organizations. DAL South does not have a monopoly on boorish behavior. Scoop |

Yo dude, most Capts do walkarounds on the FOs leg here in the South (or maybe it's just the West). The DC-9 FOs look like they could use a break anyway with the work load they have.
... Nearly 24 hours after a Minneapolis bound New York JFK flight was scheduled to land and its passengers are back in Minneapolis. "This is not the way you run the world's largest airline," said the Delta-Northwest flight 709 pilot. The flight was scheduled to take off at 11:40 Friday morning and arrive a couple hours later in the Twin Cities. Instead, an hour after it left the gate, the pilot said construction on the runway at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport prevented them from taking off. They could get to Minneapolis, but would not be able to land. While they continued to wait, a storm arrived and slowed down all air traffic into and out of New York. "So we sit, and we sit, and we sit," said passenger Cory Sullivan. "And when the weather rolls in we're stuck." At 3:30, four hours after the scheduled take off time, passengers are allowed back into the JFK terminal. Delta airline said passengers were given food vouchers, but were unable to put them up for the night in a hotel because hotel rooms in the area were booked. "Passengers were sitting without any information at all," said Sullivan. "They were all scurrying on the phone to rebook their flights. The kicker-you can't rebook your flight if it's not canceled unless you want to pay for one, so we're stuck," he said. Sullivan said the flight never was canceled. He found a hotel room and spent the night which he paid for himself. In the morning, 40 passengers boarded the same plane which was again delayed. In a video supplied by Sullivan the pilot told passengers there wasn't any water for the bathrooms. It was never replenished after Friday's delay. "Again I do apologize, I'm hoping the water trucks can be here in a couple minutes we cannot go without any water in the lavatories," said the pilot. "It's embarrassing," said Sullivan. "Somebody has to explain to me how this comedy of errors kept going on and on and on." The flight, scheduled to arrive at 1:40pm Friday for some ended at 10:20am Saturday, for another 100 or so passengers, even later. |
[quote=forgot to bid;667526]A lot of ATL Captains on the 88 do walkarounds. Many even in the rain. I was told to never expect it though and with some thats the case but I honestly don't mind because I like to stretch as much as I can.
Right. You should never expect it or think the guys a D if he doesn't do it. His responsibility is the overall operation. Just appreciate it if he does have time and does it. |
Daln
Culture at DALN is...FO does the walk-around. If I was a DALS guy, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the DALN Capt to do any walk-arounds. Not complaining or comparing, just saying that's the way it is.
