For what it's worth, comparisons of all Comair pilots... biting the hand that feeds them... being hitched to Lawson... covered in crap because Lawson crapped the bed... being apples contaminated from Lawson... indicates that some hold the entire pilot group culpable in Lawson's letter.

All I wanted to get across was that the Comair pilot group could not counter Lawson's damage any more than today's Delta pilot group can counter LM's statements during the Compass roadshows.

Boomer,

Ask yourself this. When DAL was not hiring the policy against the DAL furloughees stood. As soon as DAL started hiring the policy was quickly dropped – now ask yourself why.

Do you think JC Lawson was trying to get hired at DAL? Or do you think the Pilots at COMAIR who wanted to get hired at DAL started speaking up against the policy? The COMAIR pilots may have had more clout then you imply. Something sure changed pretty quickly coincident with DAL starting up hiring.

I think S will be seeing as many changes as N post SOC. They are doing things to get to SOC as fast as possible, not because all of S's procedures are better. I've been told by those involved in a number of fleets there are many N procedures they like, but in the interest of getting to SOC and synergies ASAP they are going the path of least resistance for now and procedures will likely be more of a blend over time.

On the F/O side, we take solace in the fact no captain can input our employee number under "avoid pairings". I know this to be true, because many of my captains have lamented over it...
One of the first things you learn as Capt is not all the @$$holes are in the left seat :p I know Capts who have given the F/O their clock number and asked them to put them in "avoid ......"

Any suggestion on how to get more information about them? I want to vote for someone but if I don't know them personally how do I choose? Anyone?

Take a minute and call them as I have in the past. (assuming you can't track them down in the lounge) It is a good way to find out how they really feel about SCOPE, pay etc. It is also a good way to see if they actually have a strategy for achieving their goals.

The captains at Delta North refuse to do a walk around at all cost. They will gladly do both pilots' pre-flight work in the cockpit, but will not go outside if their life depended on it. My understanding is that it is kind of an unwritten rule at Delta South to go every other leg.

That has not been my experience thus far @ DAL-N, both on the DC9 & the A320. Multiple CAs have shared the walk arounds with me, & on this last trip we split the walks.

Well, the only way that you can get any of that back is to have the majority of us in support of it. IE our reps need to support what the majority of the rank and file want. If this becomes the case, then there is backing to get the agenda accomplished.

A reps agenda should be the desires and goals that the pilot they represent want. That truly cannot be known until they are elected and have seen the Wilson Polling data. Them are the facts boys!

What you should want in a rep, is a person you feel can be a good advocate for you, someone you think will put the best interests of the group above theirs, and someone that is not going to go a long with the party line. (IE malleable, Stands up for what the group he is representing wants, no matter what that is)

I cannot believe that we have filled 10 pages talking about a frickin walk around.

Now watch the thread go silent for 2 days. ;)

Seems to always go in small bursts.

Alright Deadhead, that is just way to much for this early in the day! Now I am going to have to find something to post to make up for that.

How about that $40 million sky-bridge project connecting our terminal and the US Airways terminal over in LGA, you hear any good rumours about that?

If it all goes to plan we can call it the "Pension Gateway Project"

And as for the too early in the morning comment, well lets just say I thought you "Atlanta Guys" were real men.

johnso29 08-25-2009 05:54 AM

I just yacked my morning oatmeal up. That was very unpleasant. :D

PS- Thanks to the Comair crew that got me home the other day. All the junk they've been taking lately & they got me on the Jumpseat & were more then accomodating. Thanks guys, I appreciate it.
