Carl's making a mistake trying to resort to cheap and tired clichés. Maybe he thinks he has the pulse of the thread, and maybe he thinks he can shortcut the debate a little. Maybe he feels Sailing's on the ropes, and he wants to move in for the kill?

Bottom line, it's an APC foul. Loss of one point, everyone goes to their corner.

Debate like a man, or lurk quietly.

Amen.........

AE question:

If the driver for the 7ERB displacements is the "new" clarity on 757 retirements, would we not see displacements in both seats?

Yes, I agree. I know Sailing and he's not a bad guy, and has never been an ALPA volunteer. At least to my knowledge. He just believes in what he posts. I think I'm also done with this thread, when guys like Carl try and control the debate. This whole thread has no useful purpose to me anymore, so I'm done. I've got better things to do in my life than this anymore.

We are overstaffed? ALV over 80 in all cats except 777. Max lines over 90 in some. Gonna be a GS summer.

I have a different perspective with respect to Sailing. I don't think he's an apologist per se. I believe he believes what he says. I don't think he is fed talking points to spout off.

I agree with Bar, I hope he sticks around. I like his input.

Whether he sticks around or not is his call. But I think it matters when a guy comes here lying and spinning. Nobody benefits from that. It's healthy when we all post our opinions, rumors and facts backed up by evidence. It's unhealthy when people post official sounding "facts" from all of his "inside" contacts, and we find out he's doing nothing but spinning and lying. That behavior needs to be called out when it happens, because it's relatively rare here.

Now, another topic is why he believes what he says given evidence to the contrary.

That is indeed a puzzle. But when he does it, I can't just let it go unchallenged. If he can't deal with being called out on it and decides to leave for 3 years, that says something too.

I think if some here took the time to ever engage one of the negotiators about the process and what was traded back and forth they might have a somewhat different opinion of the results. Negotiations are always a give and take. Negotiations under the RLA give management a huge advantage. One thing I really find a odd comment form junior pilots is that they cite how well the company is doing as something that is wrong. Yet the fact the company is doing well will benefit them far more then the senior pilots over time. Time to take a long break from the giant pity party that has become this forum. I check back in 3 years from now and we will see who's version of the future was more correct.

Sailing, there are a lot of us here who respect the perspective and information you bring. You are one of the best reasons to check this thread IMO.

One individual, on the other hand, has a major post-SLI ax to grind and will take a shot at anyone he perceives as having any knowledge of ALPA. I really enjoyed his too short-lived self imposed exile. I hope you stay around and give us the good info you always do.

I've not tried to control anything. You've always been a stalwart supporter of our DALPA status quo. That's your right. But guys like you and sailingfud really hate it when one of the team gets nailed for lying. If your response is to claim I'm controlling the debate and leave, it speaks volumes.

The fix here is for our usual suspects to stop lying and spinning. Then I can return to lurking as well.

When you need fewer augmented 7ER crews you need fewer 7ER FOs...

We traded concessions (with some improvements) for COLA and large RJs.

Mgmt has an especially huge advantage when our MEC is working for them. How 'bout that strike preparedness committee - never spooled because it was never intended to be used. "Fleeting opportunities" and all.

The only upside I see is a 3 year duration and the (non-guaranteed) possibility of patterning up on Unical and USAA (since our JV partners and other pilots aren't in our competitive set).

I consider all opinions here just that opinions. I hope that civil discord is just that civil. I agree with some and just flatout disagree with some (peastain, purple, manager nut case) but I consider all, my peers and with that a due amount of respect is at hand. But I fail to see the evidence to counter the fact that there/will be less DCI pilots flying less DAL customers and more system hours being brought back to mainline. Get over the fact whether a 50 or 76 seat jet. That was given away before my time. There are less of them!!! yes always a cost and one I did not/do not take lightly, but today we are better off. Next contract even better. Shoulda coulda woulda with any airline management is highly suspect. But a better deal was negotiated in my opinion...

Now as a reserve guy again!!!! I am distraught at the ALV + 15, but I will not fly fatigued! And after ALV, if I am fatigued I still take home ALV.....:D

Or, as my dad told me a long time ago;

"Opinions are like azzholes, everyone has one, and everyone else's stinks!"

Get 10 pilots together and you'll hear at least 11 different opinions!
