Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
That's really freaky. All this hail talk had me remembering Capt West... I'll never forget his emotional interview, felt so bad for him. Thanks for sharing that sad news.
Y'all be careful with that weather. The FOM is pretty clear about not tangling with storms. Deviate or divert. We get paid by the minute.

Furlough bypass pilots have spots in the first classes, then once "off the street" hiring begins, the remaining MSA flows (9/month, less than 75 remaining to flow...Help MESABA??!)and pre-divestiture CPZ pilots (20/month with a rolling 12 month cap, roughly 400+/-) are placed in classes. The remaining seats available are then filled with a ratio of eligible PCL SSP hires (max of 12 per month or 1/3 of remaining new hire seats, whichever is less), and then "off the street" hires.
All schedules are adjusted by slots required to place FUR BYP pilots in first classes (max 203), but likely 1/3-1/2 will return.
So say Delta runs 2 classes a month at 50 per class: total 100/mo
Jan-Feb: 200 FUR BYP
Mar-July 2014
3 FUR BYP (Mar only)
20 CPZ
9. MSA
12 PCL
56 Off the street (59 Apr-July)
Aug 2014 (maybe earlier)
9. MSA
12 PCL
79 off the street
Sept 2014-Feb 2015
12 PCL
88 off the street
(shown to illustrate how real allocations would work in certain scenarios, not a projection or guesstimate)

Someone mentioned that it could be as few as 30 new hires per month. What would that breakout be?

GT,
Sounds like he had some issues, fair enough, but he is gone and its Fathers day - perhaps we can end this discussion or at least steer it in a more productive direction.

It needed to be said. He was a disgrace to our profession. We are better off without him. Let his family celebrate his life, not us.

Also, there's nothing heroic about flying through a massive hail shaft and not losing the airplane. There's just no reason to do that...ever.
It's like setting a building on fire, but getting everyone out. Are you a hero for getting people out safely?

Contract flying in China weather deviation communication.
XXX2342 needs left for weather.
Chinese ATC: Unable, military airspace
XXX2342 ok, need right for weather
Chinese ATC: Unable, military airspace
Me to Chinese FO: Tell ATC in Chinese we are turning around and going back.
Chinese chatter back and forth.
Chinese ATC: xxx2342 left turn approved.
