buh bye.

I don't understand your "argument is diluted" comment. To refresh your memory of what actually happened, the negotiations WERE rushed, and despite promises to the contrary, this haste affected the outcome. This would've been a fine contract---had DAL been losing money. We weren't though---quite the contrary---we were making RECORD profits, soon to be topped again THIS year.

Do you not recall that the company opened with a ZERO percent raise for us? Are you not the least bit insulted by that? What we ended up with is little more than our then existing rates adjusted for inflation. You may be satisfied with that, but I'm not.

March 9, 2012 Chairman’s Letter

“We believe opportunities exist—right now—to reach a comprehensive agreement on an expedited timeline, but let me make this point perfectly clear. While we will attempt to expedite the process, we will not compromise the product.” Tim O’Malley

March 13, 2012 Negotiator’s Notepad 12-01 (commenting on the above quote)

“We could not agree more. Under the continuing direction of the MEC, we will seek a comprehensive expedited agreement, but we will not sacrifice the quality of the agreement for the sake of expediency.”

Two months later after “intense negotiations” (as described in the above referenced Negotiator Notepad) we had a TA.

Holy crap I'm holding a line in Sept!

Can we bottle some of this enthusiasm for the next time the "seniority on reserve" discussion comes up? This is one of the strongest arguments for continuing to make reserve palatable to senior bidders - it opens up options way down the list for guys that otherwise would not be available. I'm genuinely happy for you guys. Congrats! Hopefully there will be more feel-good stories like this as the newhires join the list :D

I got a RES line for next month! I'm actually happy with the way it worked out. The consequence is low pay. Can we now bid extra SC days, how much do they pay?

I think it's 1 hour per extra SC. Not really worth it. As the C44 Scheduling Chairman put it - "Extra SC/RSV days are GS killers"

See the comment above about GS killers. I really don't understand why the company is not availing themselves of this option, at least over the summer. 1 extra SC or RSV day at 1 hr/pop would certainly be cheaper than the Greenslips that have been flowing in nearly every category. No question there would be guys picking those days up too. My hope is they never decide to exercise that provision of the contract.

I'm sure there will be some group of guys to pick it up but it doesn't seem smart at first glance. If the company offers the extra SC then that means its probably not going to be SC but a trip. Unless you are at or near guarantee then the trip assigned would be working for free. Not really worth 1 hour pay.

Anyone know where I can find a PCS help guide? Looking for info on swapping reserve days with yourself.

Thanks

So: The DOJ and US/AA.

Does anyone know if there has ever been a time where the DOJ opposed a merger and it went through anyway?

2004 Oracles bid for PeoplSoft. DOJ lost

The DOJ didn't try to block a merger again unil 2011. They won that one.

Re the backdoor method...maybe you need to prepare the battlefield by getting some booze in her first.

Everyone gets the Ligero access denied page... you just need to keep trying to get in there, sooner or later it will let you. Come on man, you don't get in the backdoor with Ms Delta without some serious commitment to repetitive attempts.
