My bet, and I'm no Newk, is that the word fleet was added to prevent the 717s from being acquired and put into storage but that acquisition being enough to allow the CRJ-900s to be ordered and flown on revenue service without the 717s. The word maintenance was in there because that would allow ## CR9s to enter into service even if the required number of 717s had not yet hit the line because they were being refurbished in maintenance.

That's my guess. But let's say it is a violation, 717s in maintenance and not yet flying therefore means no CR9s can be flying but let's say they do anyways, what are we going to do about it? I mean what do we get for that when we find out the 717s are good to go come Nov 1 and in the meantime the company is flying 160 super premium jumbo 76-seater RJs?

What's your definition of constructive engagement?
I am coming into this late, but DCI used to routinely accept more than their "permitted" number of aircraft, stating that these jets were not part of the operating fleet, but spares. The spares would flex up and do charters and even last second substitutions for Delta resulting in what was an obvious violation. When called on it management would laugh and say that these extra jets were spares.

ALPA properly nailed down the language to clarify spares are included in the fleet.

How in the world do you not have aircraft in mx while a fleet is flying? There will always be an operational spare and mx occurring.

On the radio I've heard some say "Delta's" (plural) and others say "Delta".

Is there something behind this?

FAA Registry - Aircraft - N-Number Inquiry

We still own them, and sub lease them to Skywest, to park their 50 seaters. That way they can give those profits to 9E instead of Delta, which is really giving it to Delta, but lowers 9E's costs, which in turn lowers what Delta will pay Skywest after the rate reset. Which the parking of 50 seaters is dependent upon the delivery of the 76 seat jets, which is dependent on the delivery of the 717. But all of this might not be true depending on the interpretation of God knows who's, contract.

Not plural, adjective. Possessive pronoun?

I'd also like to know. I'll pass it on if I hear what the new password is. Last time they just changed the capitalization.
