No, & I highly doubt they are basing next summer off of this past summer. Way to far ahead to make a decision now.
Regarding the 401k issue, here is the quick run down. Payrates were slightly skewed pre-JCBA for a reason.
- NWA pilots settled for lower pay rates post bankruptcy to hang on to their pension.
- DAL pilots gave up their pension and received slightly higher pay rates post bankruptcy.
When the two groups came together for the JCBA, as part of the agreement they decided to give fDAL pilot's a higher 401k contribution in lieu of having no pension. That's fine, we can all understand that.

1. DAL pilots received slightly higher pay rates post BK, because that's what WE negotiated. No one gave them to us. You received the payrates you had because that's what YOU negotiated (OK - not you individually, if you were on probation).
2. NO one "decided to give fDAL pilots a higher 401k...." That was negotiated by the pre-merger pilot group long before this merger occurred. Same with your lower DC. Both parties came to the table, brought their respective contracts, and what could be improved for each, was. And what couldn't, wasn't. It's that simple. Each of us are getting identical DC increases beginning on 1/1/10 to the DC previously negotiated by each separate group until 12/31/12, when you get an additional 3%. I'm OK with that, but don't sit here and act like you were thrown under the bus.
Again, redblue, my advice is to let it go. Considering you just recently got hired, you've likely got another 30 years in this career, and you're already working for the largest (and best, imo) airline in the world. The future looks awfully bright for someone in your shoes. Carrying a chip on your shoulder will make this a miserable career. Welcome aboard, and I'll gladly buy the beer when we fly together.
If your talking holding the line on more outsourcing I'd agree. If you're talking bringing current DCI flying on property, negotiating flow throughs, etc, I'd say pay restoration is ahead by a long shot, then QOL, then scope. We have Capts now making less than the FOs made pre-BK. Taking a big bite out of that is job #1.
That sounds weird. The Delta offer in February was a relative seniority list, the list we ended up with is basically a relative seniority list. You must be lucky. The final list was certainly much closer to a relative seniority list than it was a date of hire list.
It sounds to you like it was worth the lower contract to go to arbitration. In that case, then there should not be complaints about the differences in DC and longevity. It seems like the guy that is complaining got his arbitration and now wants his money too.

It is what it is. I'm over it and not looking in the rear view - we have far too many future challenges we have to face together. My civil war reference is that it's over and we can't redo it, and despite some unhappiness - more with some than others - we will accomplish far more working together than arguing over what's over and done with
Does anybody know where to find the language that talks about pay protection if you get displaced off an aircraft and you can't hold that plane anywhere else in the system? I've looked everywhere but can't find it!
For you guys who frequent ATL, how do you feel about the new 9L M2 departure setup?
We landed on 9R and after taxing back around, we were #14 holding short of Ramp 1. I know this significantly reduces runway crossings. However, when Ramp 1 gets saturated, nobody can get to a gate.

Thanks johnso29, you're probably right. I'm just trying to overcome my airline industry produced skepticism about anything positive, i.e. Mamma Delta saying "no Mr. Jr Pilot, we are not going to furlough"...

Yeah it was a nightmare. On my last rotation, a four day with ins and outs of ATL, we were late for ALL but two flights. Most of it was directly related to the M2 scenario and the ground controllers allowing AirTran to cross 8R at Dixie while holding everyone else up for the B-V loop.
