I think honesty and integrity are the most important aspect of any organization, whether a company or a union. I think as scambo has suggested, the survey results would demonstrate how far our contract fell short of expectations. The original reason for not making the results public was that we were in negotiations. We're well past that now. I would have far more respect for our union if they simply showed us the results, and stated perhaps that our initial goals were out of reach for any representative organization. My intent was not to disparage you BTW - I'm opinionated as well and am glad to see a variety of opinions here.

Perhaps DALPA intends to use those survey results for 2015 as well?

If that's true then I don't have a problem with that; I would just like them to tell us. But I think the more likely scenario is another survey since opinions change after 3+ years.

FWIW in regards to the survey; the final results (TA) will always fall short of the survey in all areas. The survey is our wish list from which our negotiators negotiate.

BINGO.....I have no doubt that most pilots who were surveyed said they wanted to work Wednesdays only with a min daily credit of 10 hours at a rate of $400 per hour. Honestly, would people really be surprised to see that the resultant Contract fell short of the survey responses?

I mean every year for Christmas I asked for a pony and a life sized robot that would clean my room (later on I would ask for a Playboy Bunny) and somehow I got over my Mom and Dad's failure to properly live up to my survey responses in negotiations with Santa.

Yeah, I'm going to ask for a paycut to help finance DCI 100 seaters and for every reserve to be on short call 24/7/365. No, for every pilot to be on shortcall 24/7/365. Families are a choice just like commuting. There, my opinion changed.

Finis,

No doubt the surveys (probably) overshot, but that isn't the impression I got from something ACL said a few days ago. Even still, If there's going to be a new survey, release the old results.

I still think it is painting rocks.

Oh that would be extremely entertaining and it could be devastating to know.

Or maybe not because we're told this is all about the expectations game and I'm sure at this point the company's expectations for an easy and QUICK win were pretty high.

20% profit sharing kicks in at $2.5 billion, correct? That's an amazing figure for an airline.

If we made $2.6B PTIX, wouldn't it be 10% for the $2.5B amount and then 20% on the remaining $0.1B?

Not 20% on the whole $2.6B just because it exceeded $2.5B.

Is that right?

Correct. Not surprised you aren't sure though. Heard a rep at the road show tell a guy the decrease in profit sharing won't matter because we will get 20% on the whole thing. I am hoping he just misunderstood.

That has to be right. Otherwise we will never hit the 2.5 number unless we shattered it by several billion, which won't happen. We don't have enough sysyem capacity to gift to the LCC/foreign orderbooks to temporarily print that much short term money anyway.

If we're going to wear a Navy like uniform,

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...photograph.jpg

isn't about time we get ribbons, pins and badges? And a wider stripe for the Boeing crowd?

And we need insignia for the type of aircraft you are on. Yes.

For instance, here's an MD-88 insignia

http://www.bunspace.com/static/photo...6/PoopGold.jpg

Obviously, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 year ribbons.

And ribbons for CQ marksmanship, getting every answer right on the recurrent CD. And ribbons for not calling in sick.

And ribbons for NYC Deployment Ribbon. And Domestic Narrowbody Reserve Ribbon. And Displacement Heart Ribbon. GRU Second Life Ribbon. DTW Overnight And Not Shot Ribbon to go alone with the DAY Overnight And Not Shot Ribbon. A Blown Tire on Takeoff Ribbon. an Attaboy Mention in SD Weekly Email Medal.

And MD-88 Survival School Ribbons. And 7ER I'm Better Than You Ribbon. And Trip Parking Ribbon. 10 Greenslips in a Month Ribbon. Purple 7 Short Calls in a Month Medal. Goes with the Purple ALV+15 Ribbon. A successful Non ILS Approach in IMC Without LNAV Medal.
