Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
It is true that 600 is the official word from flight ops now. I have not heard 800 yet from the kremlin, but that would not be surprising.
A maximum of about 100 of those can be Compass, and a slightly larger portion will be Endeavor. They strive to have at least a 65/35% ratio of civilian to military. That leaves quite a bit of room for those wanting to get hired, particularly if the number increases above 600.
Not sure what you mean by hiring from the inside... there are very few intra-company transfers to flight ops.
Good luck with your flying!

I've seen on here several times folks pushing the rumor of 600 hires vs. the 300 that I've read from official company info. I'd LOVE it to be 600... but I have not been able to find any official non-rumor in-writing source saying anything but 300. Where are you getting 600 as the "official" word? Even SD's recent flight ops memos have all said 300 "and this number may change" sort of verbage.
Hoping you or someone can actually point to this in writing--it would be good news if not just a wishful thinking rumor.
Thanks!

I've got sciatic nerve issues and going to have it fixed next week, I hope. My back has been causing a royal pain in the you know what as I make my way through stages of possible fixes.
Funny thing is that when I talk to pilots about back problems, a lot more of them say they have had problems than I thought. And a doctor at the hospital said she could start a practice just specializing in back problems for Northwest, now Delta pilots. (This is in the DTW area).
I had a Laminectomy for a ruptured L1-S5 disc about 8 years ago, but my back still hurts when I sit too long. After the surgery my surgeon says, "Well, don't sit too long or bend over at the waist and lift and twist." I said, "You just described my job."
He said, "Yeah, we get a lot of Pilots...and truck drivers."
I have noticed it hurts less, now that we've stopped dragging our flight kits around.

Funny you bring that up!! A little birdy had to do an acceptance flight on 2 717's Thanksgiving day so we could write the check to SWA and "own" the aircraft. They were them on our list this keeping them in compliance with the scope agreement.
The 717's were still in full AirTran garb in and out and were actually flown by Airtran pilots but as soon as the flight was done and the check written DAL was in compliance with the scope clause!
Jets are real and owned by DAL but they aren't even close to being on line.

Need a little help from the military guys. A divorced friend has a teenager whose father just retired from the military. She would like some info on the program for college tuition from his service. I have heard plenty of y'all discuss how it can be used for oneself, one child, split up amongst children, etc. Is there a website, phone number that she can contact to see what is available, if anything? Thanks
Point your friend towards the GI bill, which is the benefits you speak of, tell her to start googling, and back thou away slowly and carefully. I also recommend you not get between a female grizzly and her cubs... I normally don't feel this is advice I need to give, but maybe you need it

80,
I've seen on here several times folks pushing the rumor of 600 hires vs. the 300 that I've read from official company info.

The Seahawks look good! The defense looked awesome. I did their charter earlier this year and I can say they looked like a class act.
Congrats, Denny!
