Btw, I'm not running for anything. AA has run for negotiating committee and MEC chair before. Each time he has withdrawn prior to the vote. With the history of 54/20 and AA's participation in KW's campaign vs current 20 rep BB, it will be interesting to see how the politics flow this week.

Slow , I think that is incorrect. He did withdraw at the Orlando MEC meeting for the negotiating committee but not for the reason that he could not win. He did not withdraw the last MEC Chairman's election either. He put his support and votes behind King so the vote went one round. Did he not remove himself from the negotiator election so that Scrappy had a unified vote? Wasn't both of these move to show unity over his personal gain by winning in later rounds?

How was he involved in Ken's campaign against BB? I do not believe he was campaigning against Bill.

Will it be politics or a decision on the most able to get what the pilots want?

My account is accurate. I didn't ascribe motive for his withdrawal from the two elections, just recounted that he had withdrawn.

As for Orlando, he withdrew prior to any balloting taking place. There were still multiple candidates, and the unanimous vote for Scrappy came after a lengthy MEC Executive session. I don't believe your version of the events conforms with the facts and timeline of that election.

It appears 54 has done some website housecleaning (I can't find any files in their library archives) but I remember AA explaining his vote for KR was exactly because he didn't have enough MEC support and knew he couldn't win. I'm sure somebody will be able to find the doc and correct my memory if it is wrong.

This is one of my favorite myths from pro DPA types when anyone mentions TC holding a position in the new union. In the FAQ section he says he is not doing this to be the new union president but he doesn't say he won't run. Here is the quote from the DPA website where Tim states his intention " I am willing to serve in that office only if no other suitable candidate exists."

Now if he came out and actually said he won't run that would be a start.

No it wouldn't Dorfman. You're dyed in the wool ALPA no matter what. There's nothing DPA could do to make you happy except stop challenging ALPA. Let's be real.

Default UAE Customs and Border Protection Agreement

I received a letter from one of my Senators regarding the UAE CBP. Unfortunately, he thinks it is a win for America because the Emirates will be opening up Abu Dhabi to American carriers.

I kindly wrote to him and my other Senator another letter explaining how Emirates is a threat to not only American passenger carriers, but also to Air Cargo companies should they be allowed to purchase a hundred new wide-bodies which would flood the market with a lot of extra belly freight.

More so, I explained that, as an American pilot, I went through a very painful process clearing UAE immigrations recently. Will the UAE be building pre-clearance facilities in the USA to make my entrance in and out of their country any smoother? Nope. Will they treat ALL Americans, lets say those with Israeli heritage, the same when they process through immigration because of their Arab League boycott of Israel? Nope. And worse, why should we subsidize their loans via the Export-Import bank?

I thought it was important to write them back. Perhaps you might want to reengage your local representatives as well.

Hmmm...politics of personal destruction anyone?

Carl
So, I was going to respond to Slowplay's ridiculous post, but you already addressed it.

Don't see how his feelings got hurt, was it the reference connecting him to the recall 10?

Or just suggesting his posse is gearing up to nominate him @ the meeting?

Whatever, then he goes off on his AA tangent. Pot meet kettle.

I unfortunately agree with you on all accounts

B) Someone who will devote MEC support towards reelecting Moak next Nov.

You can forget AA on that count, and maybe VS for the PR value, but expect a last minute entry who will have the support of the recall 10.

Thanks on behalf of all of us for taking the time to write that. Great points.
