How did they do that swap? That takes them far above the white slip limit.

There is -no limit- to the amount of time you can pick up, if you do it via a swap with the pot.

That's why all the 1 and 2 day trips go senior in the initial bid run, but then they show up in the pot after the PCS runs.

I believe there is a Google Chrome notebook that does some basic things like what you just wrote. Also, Best Buy had a $300 Toshiba laptop that would be pretty ideal for an 11 year old, such as I have. The schools are all going to Apple Pages for kids assignments/homework, so you may want a computer that can do that. That is what my 11 yr.olds' school has..
The best part is that on Dec 22nd, a guy is finally doing Christmas shopping! I welcome you to the Man club of shopping, where waiting until at least the 23rd of Dec shows that you wont be held hostage to expectations of beating the Christmas rush. Chuck Norris probably wont likely go until Xmas eve....just saying.

My choices:
Nook (whatever their top of line is now. I have a Nook tablet and hundreds of books...)
Kindle Fire HD... seems an android tablet, but I'm already on the Nook book std.
iPad 2 ... we have iPhones but no other Apple computers, all microsoft.
iPad mini
android tablets like Samsung Galaxy Tab ... I'm leaning this way, but no experience with these.

Thanks anyone who can shed some light on my Xmas buying trip for tonight!!

None of the above. Nexus 7. Fast processor, good speakers, and high resolution makes it an amazing tablet. Plus, it starts at $229 for the 16 GB version.

Just wait for the company to issue an obsolete RT tablet, hack it and...voilą! Dad of the year ;)

LOL some good buying responses.

I'm thinking a new vacuum for the wife, and of course new dish towels?
;)
She's hoping for an AR15 and a Zombie machete, I'm pretty sure.

No limit to the amount of time you can pick up. Isn't our contract wonderful?
The company just loves when we work 120 hours a month.
And then we wonder why it takes so long to upgrade.

At least its interesting to see all the pilots out on Virginia Ave. right before the first PCS run.

I just wish our senior pilots looked like that, or any of our International F/A's!

It would sure make the -layovers- a lot more interesting!:D

That would bring a whole new meaning to..."Slam Click"!

(might be a whole lot more; Click Slam!)

What is the logic in having a Open time limit via PCS but no limit via the above?
Was this a concession to the company or something that Pilots wanted?

I've never understood why there is no ALV + 15 limit on swaps. I'm guessing that's how the MEC came up with the average pilot flying 92 hours....they don't average in the 72hr. reserves of course.
