You all need to go to read some aircraft ident books. It's a Convair 880! :)

I don't know. It looked like the a$$ of a cat to me.

I guess the CAPT will have to query the FAs in the brief "If we need to extend are all of you willing and able to extend?"

I'm fairly certain 117 does not apply to F/A's.

Could be - it says the whole crew and that is a DAL document so I am not sure exactly who they are referring to.

Trying to play Devils advocate here I can kind of see where the company is coming from. These extensions are most likely to come during WX events etc when the dispatchers are going to be swamped.

If a dispatcher has to have a one on one conversation with multiple crews about extending the whole system may just grind to a halt. They will be plenty busy with other stuff.

Airlines today are minimally staffed in all support positions - think actual classes of ground school with human beings as instructors in an environment where you can ask a question or learn from anothers question vs a CD in your V-file.

I guess its just the nature of the beast.

There's a new game in town, it's called swap two short trips for two 62:00 trips, for a 124hr. line!

And you thought trip parking was hurting you?

That's child's play compared to this new game!

That's not a new game. However, it is / has been a seniority based game.

Does anyone know if there is a different way to check and list for AA jumpseat? Tried the link in travelnet with the username and password and keep getting denied. Thanks

It's a new game, only because it's a new trip.

The old 8 day, 46hr. NRT-SIN trip, thanks to FAR117, is now a 10 day, 62hr. trip.

After bid awards there were about 25 of them in open time, because PBS couldn't build very many lines with it. But now, after a few PCS runs, most of them have been sucked up through swaps, and the open time is nearly all 32 hr. JNB trips.

It's the old rule of unintended consequences, guys are going to be flying MORE, not less, so of course they'll be more rested...

Oh, and it's going to cost the company a small fortune because they are now going to pay 62 hours to cover the same legs flown as the old 46hr. trip.

For anyone going to work in ATL ... wrecks, flooding, construction, have bblocked the bus routes ... no cops helping. Figure an hour or longer for the bus ride until this gets cleared.
