Here is the part I am referring to:
Additionally, the PIC's signature acknowledges acceptance of an FDP extension (if necessary for that flight) for the entire crew. If any pilot is unable to accept an extension, he/she must notify Delta as soon as possible via the following means: • Prior to report for an FDP, contact Crew Tracking • After report for an FDP, contact the dispatcher for the flight. |

Small study painting (8"x10") for a potentially larger version down the road. Opinions?

AZ, if they aren't breaking even in this environment, seems pretty hopeless.
IMHO management took unfair advantage of the 3 year window. They have little right to complain about pilot costs and being "overstaffed" when they failed to staff and fly our rightful share of the EASK's. |

My understanding is the capt is the poc for the fdra. Due to my willingness to work harder for my post bankruptcy pay, I try to make it easy for him. If we get into one of those rolling delay, stick around for engine runs, etc. I just step up as the bad guy and say I'm not willing to extend. You've all been there. Make the call how you see fit. I know what my call is going into it.
My job is to make sure we all arrive to our destination, as it should be for everyone here. There is no shame calling uncle! It might help our manning if we do it more than just hanging it out there for the Feds to chop it off! |

Scambo, FOs will not need to step up most of the time. It says "......full crew" How often will all of the FAs extend if they know they have a choice. :) I guess the CAPT will have to query the FAs in the brief "If we need to extend are all of you willing and able to extend?" I guess the A line will have to query the rest of the FAs since domestically the CAPT often does not meet the whole crew face to face. But hey, its a great concept - sign away saying that people you may, or may not have ever met, are able and willing to extend their crew day. I realize that this is often routine, but the whole thing seems like a joke - we extend by default. If that's the case why not make the extended limit the actual limit? Oh I see, that is not very good "safety theater" were we pretend 117 was all about safety. Scoop |
