The Flight Ops FAR 117 Bulletin says that by signing the FDR we are agreeing to the max flight extension possible unless the pilot not wanting to extend calls the dispatcher.
Does this mean I will have to call the dispatcher before every flight and tell him that even though I am signing the release, I do not agree to any FDP extensions that may arise later. I don't think the intention of FAR 117 was for extensions to be automatic unless you call and tell them otherwise. Hook |

Just did CUN,
New hotel, nice place but not nearly as good a location on the strip as the old place. And the all inclusive deal is $$. But a good beach, and only a shortish cab ride (or even cheaper bus ride if your wife is used to pilots), to the main shopping/dining. Make sure to ask for a top floor, beach side. Only the top floor has balconies, but they said they try to arrange those for crew. Concierge in lobby was very helpful/nice arranging dinner plans. Taking a spouse shouldn't be a problem, big van, friendly driver, (same guy). I watched another pilot escort his wife with him in thru customs getting in, no hassles. Standby and customs outbound is easy too. Just get a seat request from ticket counter, I believe there is a slight tax, and get thru security. Crew cannot buy duty-free anymore, but spouses can. The liquid/gel thing is somewhat random. It'd be a great getaway. 8 Any place to eat that you could recommend? Nothing too "piloty." |

Buzz,
Another Mexico oddity to remember is flashlight size in your flight kit. I don't remember the exact length allowed, but it was smaller than the standard 2-D cell Maglite... |

Would have to re-read the thing, but my understanding is that by signing the FDRA, you are simply confirming that you have reported for duty rested and able to fly the leg...not necessarily agreeing to any possible future duty day extensions...
Additionally, the PIC's signature acknowledges acceptance of an FDP extension (if necessary for that flight) for the entire crew. If any pilot is unable to accept an extension, he/she must notify Delta as soon as possible via the following means: • Prior to report for an FDP, contact Crew Tracking • After report for an FDP, contact the dispatcher for the flight. |

What.......? Magically in a quarter or two DAL worked some financial magic on them and spun them 180?? Implying that this is:
A. A true fact, and: B. Then imply the same can be done to a decades long, chronically mismanaged dysfunctional business is: Fantasy. Plain and simple. I can think of 11,600 more reasons for Delta to invest money in than that. Would the Delta pilots be better served losing the ability of AZ pax to connect onto DAL jets coming from and going to Italy? OR Would DAL pilots be better served with the severing of a portion of our European feed and distribution while those passengers are then routed onto Eihad jets? What is the ripple effect onto the Delta pilot list? Yeah, I'd love more Benjamins in my pocket, but investing 16% of one years profit (taken from the planned CAPEX expenditure line anyway) will be more beneficial for DAL pilots in the long term... There is PLENTY of cash left to pay the DAL pilots. Don't miss the forest for the trees. |

Small study painting (8"x10") for a potentially larger version down the road. Opinions?
