Lots of good info in the new crew planning letter. Hiring approved for 600 additional pilots the next 12 months. Rumor of 4 717's per month not true. They might take 1 or 2 extra airframes this year as spares only. 757 retirement schedule is dynamic and subject to change.

I agree. I'm cautiously optimistic that this hiring spree turns into the one that never ends. The 99-01 hiring spree was suppose to never end as well and we know how that turned out. I sure hope we see 50 a month forever, but Russia/Iran/N Korea etc. and age 70 could easily derail some of that plan.

That's it in a nutshell. As I've said many times here, nobody at National wants to rock the boat. You want to know why?
Isn't DuhWayne Worthless an Industry Lobbyist now?
And Randy Babbit had a Government job for awhile too...
An SOS should have happened long before the US Air pension grab. ALPA should have protected the CAL pilots jobs when they went on strike in 1983, and the EAL pilots jobs in 1989, when they stood up to Frank Lorenzo.
But, Frank Lorenzo was a Houston business man, and one of his good friends was (and still is) George Bush Sr.

Personally, I find both FOX News and MSNBC full of exaggeration and hyperbole most of the time.

Well at least there was a PBGC to pick up the pieces. I get what you mean though to see a company shrug their pension obligations only to declare a $2.5Billon profit a few short years later.
What ever happened to Eastern retirees or Braniff retirees?

Sadly, it will never happen now. I checked in on Ben's board last night and threw up a little in my mouth.
Apparently Lee Moak had 1,278,000 reasons not "to rock the boat at national" last year, or probably ever.
I am an ALPA supporter, but that is obscene and indefensible. Before that little bomb shell went off I would have said DPA was in grave condition on life support and drifting into the dirt nap.
That movement just snapped out of it and sat up straight in bed while yanking out the IVs. Phuque! Just when I thought they were in the death swirl in the bowl and gonna be gone.
Why is this bad? Here's why!
That little Moak nugget set back any chance at unity building for a long time. So much for getting our $hit together before section 6.
So ****ed I'd kick the dog if I had one. Might have to let the cat out back instead. There are a set of hawks building a nest in one of my palm trees!

A 2 percent raise isn't going to cut it for me this next go around. A giveback of any kind isn't going to work for me either. I don't want to hear that negotiations are 'give and take'. The company has taken and we have given plenty. Our executives don't ask what they have to give up to get a raise. When the FA's get the same raise as us, they don't get more days on reserve. Are you listening DALPA??
