This is just a out of my butt tiers but it would provide pay raises for a majority of pilots in addition to negotiated pay raises and in the long run would save the big D on training costs. Just an idea towards your coveted LBP.
This is basically what United has. I'd be curious to hear how their guys like it

Since the new contract was signed the company has now posted and filled 530 CA positions. System wide block hours have been essentially flat. Does not make much sense in view of the massive job losses contained in the contract.

And yet no replacement bids for the retiring 747/777 Captains...

If you want to be a 717 or 737 Capt. for the rest of your life, Delta Rocks! But if you want to make some money, not so much, when you consider the fleets and number of 747/777 Capt. jobs at UCon and AA, compared to the 16 747's and 18 777's at Delta.

Oh wait, Richard just said he wants to replace the 747's with something smaller, so we've got that going for us!

Sailing

Seem like this argument that C2012 didn't cost jobs could be easily verified with a simple chart. Maybe FTB could make a fancy chart that shows the number of mainline jets on property at the end of 2011, 2012 and 2013. Then show a corresponding line that has the number of pilots on property those same years. Then we could all see if the ratio of pilots to planes has gone up, down or stayed the same since the contract was signed.

Just a thought for anyone who has more technical skills than I.

Not sure what company fleet planning has to do with job loss from the contract. They have replaced 56 747/777 CA's in the above time frame. CA positions on the large wide bodies are as you know very dependent on 4 man verses 3 man metrics.
When did you become a 777CA?

Pilots to planes is not the metric you want. You have to compare block hours. A fleet of 600 aircraft flying 7 hours a day requires a very different number of pilots from the same fleet flying 10 hours a day.

I must have missed it, can you show me the A/E's where there were 56 openings for 747/777 Capts? I haven't seen one in a couple years. I do recall the displacements off the 747's when they were adding the lie flat seats, did they ever reinstate those guys? It's not 'new' positions if it's simply reinstatement.
