Old SLC Chief Pilot passed just passed away. 61 years old. He was one heck of a guy. Had him and his family non-rev on a flight a few weeks back going on a cruise. Made me realize we need to spend more time with those who matter and less time with stuff that doesn't.

Sad to hear. Do you know if it was glioblastoma? I never met Jim but I've had two close friends, also Delta Pilots, who died of that in the past 3 years.
It's supposed to be 'rare' but I've heard of a lot of pilots getting it. It's survival rate is only 3%. Not sure of the glioblastoma diagnosis, but I understand that it was some type of brain tumor. And yes, on the glioblastoma rate with Delta pilots, it appears to be higher than average. |
Condolences to his friends and family. From all mentions he was a great man.
In 2010, Jim pinned the wings on his then newly hired son, MG. |
Just read the Wiki on glioblastoma. The article notes a link between the disease and radiation. The survival rate is pretty poor.

Does any 73N guys out there have the link to the 73N study guide that is maintained by a DAL 73N LCA?
If anyone could please PM me the link I would appreciate it.... Thanks FIIG |
I need Help from Computer Nerd!
Hi Guys, here is the deal, I am trying to do my aircraft systems distance learning via company issued USB drive. The only computer that I have is a MAC running OS X. The company only supports Windows and I don't really want to buy another laptop to use just to complete this distance learning.
Plan 1 is to load Windows XP, Vista, 7 or 8 on my Mac via boot camp. Plan 2 is to buy a cheap refurbished Windows laptop. What do the nerds think and why? Thanks |

If you do get a cheap windows machine (what I keep around for just this reason and to reliably run ezbid) remember that windows XP will be unsupported by this April and Vista is either unsupported or soon to be as well.
