For those Bs who like to backdoor it - and I KNOW some of you do :D - at least some categories are ready and willing.

Getting out of ATL is usually not a problem, ie. we fill all the seats, not much cargo going that direction, and going to JNB is an hour shorter leg (less FOB) than coming back to ATL. Your problem will be getting OUT of JNB, if you want to return directly to ATL.

We do haul a lot of cargo coming out of JNB, and we need more fuel, and the JNB airport elevation is 300' higher than Denver. Last time I flew it, we were right at the max takeoff wt. packs off, thrust bump, with about 20 empty seats and cargo and 295,000lbs. fuel for a 16:15 flight. We used nearly all of the 15,500' runway and rotated about 185kts.

Most non-revs. plan on going on KLM or Air France through AMS or CDG to get back to the states.

Thanks for the help everyone

Oh, and george posted Bastian's charts. I'll use those. A percentage pulldown, with or without Alitalia's participation is still a bigger DAL pilots contribution. If you want to prove your point, show me a jobs chart. How many pilot positions have AF/KLM reduced over this time? All this EASK stuff is nothing but smoke, mirrors, and spin.

One other thing to add. Absent revolutions in Egypt, Kiev and Syria the company would have been in compliance. Those flights had nothing to do with the JV. As I have said I expect the pilot group to be compensated for the loss of jobs.
As for EASK being smoke and mirrors it's the only thing that matters as far as the contract and we have very good people watching the numbers.

You're too new to make that post. You haven't even learned the secret handshake yet.
Do they teach guys about the back door at indoc nowadays?

(not that there's anything wrong with that) :D

just kidding. Here's all you need to know --> "Clear on the right. I'll take the chicken and the fat one."

TSquare - Excellent posts.

Sailing - Could it be that what I'm posting as a one leg flight, you consider to be a round trip flight? If so that would explain why the numbers you and I are getting from the same source are off by an order of a magnitude.

Maybe, let me go back and look. We are using the same data. Then I have get off of here and go back to arguing with my wife over what we need more. A new deck or a new Corvette! So far that discussion is not going well either.

Ok, I looked at the data. If the company had started 1 Mar 14 to come into compliance with the rolling 36 months they would need to add 5.1 round trips on the A330 from DTW to AMS or 6.91 round trips from JFK to LHR on the 767-40o for the 12 month cure. That matches up almost exactly with what the DALPA guy told me which was 2 to 3 round trips per day depending on route and equipment over the entire 36 month period. It's a average of the rolling 36 months so the longer they go out of compliance the bigger the add requirement. If they wait until Sep they could still get in compliance but it requires 10.2 or 13.82 round trips at that point.

Everything I know about backdooring, I learned from 80kts!

First month bidding - missed a regular line by 1 number - but got all weekends off & every day I asked for ! Suddenly seeing the attraction of NYC 88B ;).

The deck is for her. Come to think of it, who's going to ride in the Corvette?

I say buy her one and surprise her with the other. ;)

Kids these days!
Senior on their first bid.

Back in the old days we didn't even get days off.
And we lived in a tar paper shack on Ditmars Blvd. Walked through the snow over to the Marine Air Terminal and stood at attention for 12 hours on airport standby.
