It varies a lot - I'm on the ER in JFK: In April, I flew around 45 hours, and sat 6 SCs.

In the last two months, I flew 80 hours and got called for SC twice each month, but had a trip by the time I commuted to JFK.

Someone might of said it, but the international SC covers two days, 1200 on day 1 until 1200 on day two, so 6 SCs actually can cover 12 days of reserve days.

Oh, then they also tend to give (at least to me) a SC, day of long call, then another SC when things are slow.

Scoop,

I don't mind flying some domestic trips. Looking at the open time for November, it looks like we lost bunch of Hawaii flying to CVG and ATL. Here's a question. If you are in an ER category but flying a "domestic" trip, do you still sit 24 hour short call? Inquiring minds and all......:D

Denny

The International Categories sit 24 SC. The ER is international so all reserves can sit 24 hr SC. There is nothing in the PWA to make scheduling determine who is an international pilot and who is a domestic pilot. Basically at 12+01 on SC you turn in to a domestic pilot.

I see this as an issue, and one that we need to address. I know of one or two that have called in fatigued at 12+00 and some for an international trip claiming fatigue. Got up at 0630 at the start of SC and did not rest prior to the call out. They were fatigued no doubt about it, but some thing that you need to be sleeping until the phone rings!

Also, Bar FWIW, I have been given 8 SC's prior to DCC and six after in one month.
I generally do not fly a lot in those months, but they do hit the max. It is all luck either way. It depends on your SC time and what trips pop up. Sometimes you get nailed some times you sit for days on end.

Also, the 767 has some very short, short calls to. I have been give many with less than 1 hr to departure. They ask and I laugh. I do not live in a camper in the parking lot.

Well, not yet you don't.

I'll rent you a bunk in my Detroit camper after DCC. I'm still thinking a VW Camper, but for Detroit I'm partial to those fiberglass GMC things ... if we can find one that hasn't caught fire and melted.

The trick is going to be refueling the generator. I don't think they'll let me on to airport property with 5 gallon gas cans and I have no intention of registering or driving the thing once it reaches the apogee of its crappy existence in the Detroit employee lot. There's only so much you can ask from a drive train lifted from a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado.

Up there you will need nice warm camper. Not one like you could use down here. It gets mighty cold!
I was thinking more like a city block of these houses that are up for grabs at 5K a pop. But a city block and make it DAL low rent housing. Put a security fence around it, and a few fast food joint, a dry cleaners, and a few bars here and there, and you could retire in about a week! ;)

Why - we could call it "College Park" or "Brook Haven" to make it sound nice. Sure there ain't no Brook and it sure isn't a Haven, but yuppies moved to South Chambodia in droves and paid a half million bucks for a McMansion built on fill dirt covering a superfund site.

You're too smart to be in this business :)
