You would be amazed what people will do to avoid the pick up limit.

Good point. Thanks everyone!

If you wait till 2 am after the X day ends to acknowledge the rest, did you just break the rest period and negate the 30 consecutive hour break?

Capt. Hook

They can't require you to acknowledge a voice mail during an X day.
Just ignore it and go on long call at midnight. You will NOT have had a 30 hour break.
If they want to give you a 30 hour break they have to assign it before it starts.

So, for the first time I got to mess around with a Suface 2 at Best Buy. I have to say, I was impressed. I own an Ipad 2, $400, neat but not crazy about it.

The Surface I was messing with had a keyboard and Office (word, excel, etc). And a usb port.

So what is it about this thing that people don't like?

They can't do that. You must be notified of a 30-hour rest period before the rest begins. You cannot be notified at the end of an X-day that you're getting another six to count as the 30.

Pretty sure that is [highly] illegal. Rest requirements are now prospective. If you didn't start your X day knowing about the +6 they can't just tack it on at their leisure. Call DALPA ASAP and don't acknowledge that assignment until its clarified. Even if they take it off, still call and let them know scheds is trying to do this. Eventually they will find someone who will accidentally fall for it and subject themselves and the company to an illegality.

Fine, I'll say it.

It's not an iPad. Because anything starting with an i is way cooler.

Maybe someone got carried away with a twitter account and wanted to emulate a certain Dutch girl.
