Egg-zactly. I was caught in this mess last year. The wording is very deceiving. The only way to know if it's non-refundable is to call. Also, we are not exempt from the $150 change fee, and if you change the reservation on Travelnet, you won't be notified that the new (increased) fare is due to a change fee.

I had a PanAm engineer, previous National. He had to do an engine change at an outlying station. He trashed his uniform shirt doing it. He asked National for a replacement shirt. Management told him that he should have worn overalls. They refused the reimbursement.

By the time he was done it was one incredibly expensive shirt. It never ceases to amaze me how stupid managers can be.

This is very doable, especially if scheduling are given the resources to assign all the following trips by 8 am Mecca time the day prior. When they get behind and wait unti 4 pm to assign SC and trips, we all get the short end of the stick. But in order to give the company this option, how about we get our seventh short call back? Make it six, like it should have been all along.

Okay, fair enough. Thanks for the answer.

What's your take on the allegation that the ATL CPO has been telling pilots that the terms of 117 have already been agreed to and that there were just a few items outstanding?

Do your sources indicate a deal is likely or not likely?

I am told that as mentioned we are in the end game and would have a agreement or terminate negotiations shortly. No idea of which way it will go.

A flight engineer did an engine change--and at an outlying station at that? That seems a bit of a fairy tale, as it takes a team of qualified mechanics some time and special tools to do that.

I took it to mean the crew had to turn the engine assisting the mechanics who were actually changing the engine. I have a few shirts myself that bear "the mark of the engineer" ie. grease stains.
