Anyone notice that the DC-9 does not have a fleet page. Poor DC-9 :(
-We used to have some material in base for our annual CQ..study guides, etc. It's buried on the computer now and not very updated. -Phase I, II, III, or IV guages: late and comically incomplete, and buried in the computer. Other fleets have the booklets laying out in the mailroom. -No word on fleet size, plans, painting schedule, etc. Word of mouth rumors are all they put out. -No word on what will become of common FA crews, simulators, or equipment upgrades. ...and did I mention we will be the last (along with the 757) to go to BP5? (ie. trip rigs, hotels in base for IROPS, ability to buy vacation with bank, etc.) Step child fleet with lame duck managers who will be back to flying the line come January. |

Yes and no. You have no requirement to answer the phone on your day off (actually, you are never REQUIRED to answer your phone even on an on call day) - you do have to check your schedule after 1500 local base time on your last X day though. And I think, per the contract, the earliest report you can have on your first on call day is 0500.
So, if you check your schedule at 1501 and there is no trip, and you are are not assigned SC - the earliest report you could be given would be 1200, and they would have to try to contact you at midnight to assign that trip. |
Frustrated passenger beats up airline "employee" - breaks its screen

So, instead of yelling at it, like any normal frustrated passenger would do, he beat the poor thing up. His anger caused $15,000 in damage to the kiosk, and in addition to being taken into custody and being charged with a felony, both the airport terminal authority and Delta Airlines have barred him from any contact with them. So, let this be a lesson to anyone that thinks the check-in kiosk does not have feelings that can be hurt - that may very well be true, but beating it up will still land you in the slammer |
Ralphie,
If you live in SFO and are based in ATL, you need to check your schedule at 1201 pacific time (equals 1501 eastern time) or later on your last day off for a reserve assignment to either short call or a trip before 1200 on you first day on call. The sooner you do it after 1500 base time the better off you are. Make sure you see the time stamp on your schedule!! Denny |

A human can (and often does) offer more help than a terminal. Lets just put a $15,000 charge on the card and call it even. No need to throw the guy in the slammer, but there is every reason to make him financially responsible for the damage he did. Besides, we can use the cash. |
I'm still thinking it takes way to many imputs to get a boarding pass. Use the cash for the IT upgrade fund.

Thanks Denny. I figured that this was true, but was told a week or so ago from a fellow Deltoid, whose knowledge of the contract is scary good, that the 12 hour call-out could start on an X day. Thanks again.
So let's say you check your schedule at 1700 on your last X-day. Either there will be a trip assigned, with a sign in NLT 1200 (or short call reporting NLT 1000), or there will be nothing. Assuming there is nothing, you just assume the long call 12-hour window beginning at midnight. |
If you are unfamiliar with Delta's reserve rules, I would suggest getting a copy of "When Scheduling Calls." Things like checking your schedule after 1500 on last X Day are good. Things get kinda tricky when you throw in terms like "No fly day," or if they fly you into an XX day. Rest times adjusting your xx days, etc. That kind of stuff doesn't seem to happen often, however you don't want to get caught off guard!
